Eric "E.B." Butler
Founder and President
I grew up in Missouri and spent every chance I had outdoors at the farm and a couple weeks every year at my uncle's farm in Iowa, there were always things to do and chores to be done. I received many valuable life lessons and developed a solid work ethic, ultimately builiding my character that I value so very much today.
I graduated college with a B.S.B.A in Marketing, spending many years in the corporate mortgage industry. I eventually came to the realization that I was not wired for office pollitics or cubicle life. It was that realization that led me to follow my passion and that passion was in wildlife managment and habitat development.
I threw myself into learning and practicing everything I could about whitetail deer management, acquiring my extended education in whitetail deer biology and habitat development. I have studied the greatest experts in the industry and am always reading up on new university studies. I have learned the proper principles and practices, experimented with many alternative methods over the years and have gained a complete understanding of what it takes to develop a property and maximize its potential.
I enjoy hunting but have become more of a land manager over time. To me there is nothing more enjoyable than helping a client acquire a new property, developing that raw land through sound habitat management principles and watching the wildlife respond to my improvements or recommendations. Out of this dedication to both my education and implimentation is where Trophy Territories, LLC was born.
One thing I came to realize through my consulting work is that many clients did not truly know what to look for when they purchased their land. Many bought due to aesthetics or because it was viewed through an untrained eye. I realized that many of their challenges could have been avoided by purchasing a parcel in the same general area and price range but with better potential, allowing them to more realistically reach their goals.
It was this realization that lead me to obtain my real estate license. I mean, why not? I did many purchase loans in the mortgage business, I understand financing, contracts, title work, surveys, liens, appraisals, income documentation, disclosures, etc. I combined that experience with my understanding of wildlife, habitat, vegitation, trees, soil, layout, terrain, composition, etc. I felt it was only a natural fit. Now, I am able to help guide my clients by helping them avoid many of the common pitfalls in the purchase process. With my guidance, I help my clients find not just any parcel of land but the right parcel, regardless of their goals.
When asked what I do for a living, I simply state that I do it all and I do it very well. If I am not finding and negotiating a deal on the best property for a client's goals, I am planning and helping others to develop their existing property. I have a true passion for what I do and find that to be the key to my success. If you too have goals and a strong desire to not just buy land but to find the best land in your budget or to maximize your land's potential, don't be afraid to ask for my help. This is not just what I do, it is in my blood, this is who I am.
