SCF Arizona - Safety Tip

Protect the eyes, face
SCF Arizona your Work Comp Specialist

Provided by Tod Dennis
Association Coordinator

Thousands of people are blinded each year from work-related eye injuries that could have been prevented with the proper selection and use of eye and face protection.
Eye injuries alone cost more than $300 million per year in lost production time, medical expenses, and worker compensation, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires employers to ensure the safety of all employees in the work environment, which means eye and face protection must be provided whenever necessary to protect against chemical, environmental, radiological or mechanical irritants and hazards.
Each year, SCF receives scores of workers’ compensation claims from workers who have been injured by debris that has injured their eyes or struck them in the face.

Chamber Offers New Home Owners' Program

Chamber Finds Members New Customers with ChamberMail

The Glendale Chamber is now offering the Glendale ChamberMail Program to assist its members in finding new customers. ChamberMail targets new homeowners and new resident in selected zip codes in the Chamber’s service area, and is currently offered to Members Only of the Chamber. The primary purpose of the program is to assist Chamber Members in finding new business during the current, difficult economic climate.

“The ChamberMail Program’s goal is to offer all of our Members-and our new neighbors just moving into to our geographic service area – a tangible, useful tool. And, for Chamber Member businesses, ultimately a profitable tool by finding them new customers,” said Don Rinehart, President of the Chamber. “While new homeownership numbers are down over the last few years, homes do continue to sell and new residents continue to move to our area. These new neighbors are looking to the Chamber for guidance on where to purchase products and services they will inevitably need.”

ChamberMail is a business-to-consumer, direct mail brochure delivered weekly into the hands of all new homeowners and new residents in select Arizona zip codes in both Glendale and Peoria.

Golf Marathon To Benefit Glendale/Peoria YMCA

THE CLASSIC 100 GOLF MARATHON WILL BENEFIT THE GLENDALE PEORIA FAMILY YMCA

Here is a fun way to play golf and raise money for the Glendale Peoria Family YMCA on Monday, November 1st. For a minimum of $1 donation per hole, that’s $100, you can play the Moon Walk course at Moon Valley Country Club. You can get as many pledges per hole as possible. And for your effort, you may win one of many prizes. The more you get pledged, the more you can win. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments are included. So are the golf balls. For more information and registration, call the “Captain” Reuben Gonzales at 623-979-9171.

Heart For The City After School Sports Program

The main challenge facing Heart for the City and their after school sports program is money. It costs $400 to suit up a player for football. They have to be transported to and from the games, too. The program gives inner city youth a place to vent their aggression and gets them off the street and out of trouble. It gives them hope and chance to succeed in life. Please donate to the program. Any amount will help. Don’t wait, call Joe Eriquez with your donation right now, 602-499-5059.

Get Your Flu Shot - NOW!

BANNER THUNDERBIRD MEDICAL CENTER RECOMMENDS GETTING YOUR FLU SHOT NOW...

Nearly 160 million doses of an all inclusive influenza vaccine is now available throughout the United States. This is the first year in which the Center for Disease Control is recommending a universal immunization to vaccinate everyone from 6 months to the elderly. It’s much easier this year because there is only one combined vaccine for the 2010-2011 influenza season. Contact your personal physician to schedule your flu shot as soon as possible.
