This means most hard plastic items will now be part of the program. Manufacturers mark the plastic items with a recycling symbol with a number in the center. Among the most common items in the newly expanded 3-7 category are beverage cups, margarine containers, sour cream and cottage cheese tubs, plastic food packaging for deli and take out food items and yogurt containers.
