Unfortunately, some of these checks are not honored for payment, either due to insufficient funds or outright fraud. Fortunately, victims of bad checks have somewhere to turn for help. Through its Check Enforcement Program, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office can get restitution from bad check writers and even prosecute offenders, at no cost to the victim. If you or your business has received a bad check, go to www.fightbadchecks.com.
