Read for the Win!
Get ready to "Read for the Win!" The Glenwood Public Library summer reading program registration is now open.
"Read for the Win!" this year's summer reading program at the Glenwood Public Library begins with a kick-off on Thursday, June 30 at 1:30 p.m. with Professor Marvel's Magic of the Olympics, a fun-filled magic show sponsored by the Viking Library System.
The summer reading program is free, sponsored by the friends or the Library. To register, call the Glenwood Public Library at 320-634-3375 or stop by at 108 SE 1st Avenue in Glenwood.

The 4th of July weekend offers many different opportunities to enjoy area festivals, community events and activities. As you can see by our Calendar of events there is plenty to do in Pope County.
The Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber and Welcome Center would like to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July and a fun and safe weekend.

Bremness Gallery - Open June 24-July 30th
The Community is invited to Bremness Gallery at 226 East Minnesota Avenue, Glenwood on the grounds of the historic Ann Bickle Heritage House during the month of July. The show features the artwork of Orlando Haugland and David Lent from Glenwood and Steven Lewis Larson from Starbuck.
The Bremness Gallery is open 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 24th through July 30th.
United Way of Douglas & Pope Counties - 2nd Annual SUP-Athon & Volunteer Opportunities
Do you like to Stand Up Paddle Board?
Support United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties by participating in the 2nd Annual SUP-Athon on July 7 and 8, 2016!
Organizers of this event have announced that all profits from the event will be donated to the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties. The Big Ole SUP-Athon is an annual Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) race through Alexandria's Chain of Lakes. Four courses (2, 6, 10 and 26 Miles) have been established, all skill levels welcome!

Ann Bickle Heritage House - Open House during July
The Historic Ann Bickle Heritage House, located at 226 E Minnesota Avenue, Glenwood will celebrate the 150th Founding of Glenwood with an Open House and "Wedding Gowns Across the Years" display during the month of July on Saturday July 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Minnewaska Lake Association Annual Banquet, July 9, 2016
Area residents can still get tickets at the door for the annual Minnewaska Lake Association banquet, set July 9 at the Minnewaska House.
The banquet is a major fundraiser for Minnewaska Lake Association (MLA), which does a number of yearly projects to improve Lake Minnewaska, inlcuding Walleye fingerling stocking and efforts to eliminate Eurasian Water Milfoil from the lake. The banquet starts at 5:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m.

Glenwood Lakes Area Sings
Glenwood Lakes Area Sings auditions for Minnesota Sings will be held at Central Square on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.
Glenwood Lakes Area Sings is a competition between contestants who want to represent the Glenwood Area at the Minnesota sings competition, a competition between cities throughout Minnesota that is designed for amateur vocalists ages 15 to 25 on September 25, 2016 at the Holiday Inn St. Paul East. The General Public is invited to attend the evening of auditions.
If you attend or attended (college students) Minnewaska Area Schools, live or work in Glenwood, you are eligible to participate. The winner and runner up from the local auditions will get to audition at the state level and have the opportunity to win the first place package worth $4,000. Plus there are prizes for 2nd place through 6th place.
