Greetings!
Thank you to everyone who attended the 2016 Pope County Salute to Business & Industry luncheon last Thursday. Thank you to Lakeside for hosting the event and a special thank you to the co-sponsors and speakers. Congratulations to Glacial Ridge Health System on receiving the honor and award this year.
Halloween is just a few days away. A busy time for kids of all ages.
- The Glenwood library's story time for children ages 3-5 is hosting a Halloween Party on Thursday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers are welcome to wear their costumes, enjoy Halloween Stories, a pumpkin craft and treats.
- The Pope County Fright Nights will continue on Friday and Saturday, October 28 & 29th, but will not be held on Halloween Night, October 31st.
- On Sunday, Ace Hardware will host a Pet Costume Contest. Scroll down for more information on registering your pet.
- The National Honor Society students will be trick-or-treating for the Pope County Hearts and Hands food shelf on October 31 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., filling their bags with donations of nonperishable foods and paper products.
- We will host the Community Trick or Treat event at the haunted house on Halloween Night, October 31st from 4:30-6:30 p.m. if we can get enough participants. If we need to cancel due to lack of participants and volunteers to handle the trick or treater families, we will make that announcement on our Website, Facebook and KMGK 107.1 FM.
We want to wish everyone a safe and fun Halloween Night and want to remind drivers to watch for children and adults.
We have put information in this week's newsletter regarding Magical Christmas in Glenwood and other community events coming up in November and December. For those interested in being in the Lighted Holiday parade, we have a short rules page this year. The only rule that is new this year is the return of an old rule. No other live Santa than the one leading the parade on the fire truck. Inflatables, cut outs, pictures, etc. are fine.
As always, there is plenty to do in Glenwood and Pope County! Check out the calendar of events on our website or on the left column of this newsletter.
Have a good week!
We would like to congratulate Western Community Partners on being chosen as the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber October Member of the Month!
This week's Community Comments is sponsored by the following Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber members:

Registration Now Open for Pope County Community Expo Sponsorships
Click here to become a Sponsor of the
Pope County Community Expo
Saturday, April 8, 2017
Minnewaska Area High School
9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Click here to see the current map for Sponsors and Exhibitors. The map, if you scroll over the booths, will show if they are available or already taken, prices, sizes, and amenities that are included. Once a booth is reserved (first-come, first-serve), another exhibitor will not be able to select it.
Sponsors will choose their booth(s) and upload their logos into the system at the time of registration. Booth locations are limited, so be sure to register early to get the spot(s) you wish to choose.
One work around that we are aware of is that the registration system will charge our sponsors for their booth rental fees at the time they register, but know that once you are registered, we will correct that pricing and issue a new invoice for Sponsors from our office until we find a way around that issue.
Here are the following Sponsorship levels for this year's event:
Gold: $2,500.00
Gold sponsors are entitled to:
- Logo on promotional give-away items
- Booth location(s) selected prior to regular exhibitor registration opening
- 3 standard booths OR 1 premium booth plus 1 standard and/or outdoor booth
- Color logo on all promotional community display boards, posters & email blasts
- 1/4 page color ad in the Pope County Community Expo Special Edition Newspaper

Bronze: $850.000

We are using a new event registration system that has been built for the Expo, so please bear with us as we test out the system for the first time and learn as we go!
