The 2016 Christmas Open House is coming fast! Pope County Historical Society board members and volunteers are collecting goods donated by the local business community and society members as we celebrate 150 years of Pope County history!
This is our major fundraiser for the year. The Museum will be open free of charge, Tuesday, November 29 through December 3, 10:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Gift baskets will be on display throughout the museum. Silent auction bidding starts Tuesday, November 29 and will end Saturday, December 3 at 3:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served Saturday afternoon from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels.
The Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber & Welcome Center will be closed both Thursday and Friday, November 24 & 25th in observance of the holiday.
Just a reminder for anyone who will be celebrating Thanksgiving alone or who might not be able to enjoy a dinner is welcome to attend the 23rd annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 24 from 11:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m. at the Minnewaska Area High School. There is more information below. Thank you to those who work so hard and volunteer their time to make this happen every year, and to all the Pope County churches. It's a blessing for many families in Pope County.
Saturday, November 26th is Small Business Saturday - remember to Keep It local this holiday season and shop our small businesses.
Also this Saturday, November 26th we will kick-off the Magical Christmas in Glenwood celebration with a Tree Lighting Ceremony at Central Square front lawn. This event will be from 5:00-5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. Dress warm as we will be outdoors and bring a lawn chair if you don't want to stand for the ceremony.
The weather has been more like winter, and as that season continues residents of the city of Glenwood need to be aware of snow removal. When we have measurable snowfalls, the city of Glenwood will be conducting snow removal operations as needed. Residents are reminded to move their vehicles from the street, or to a plowed section of the street by 8:00 a.m. whenever snow is being plowed. The city and county are very good about getting messages out regarding weather conditions,and plowing.

27th Annual Radiothon to End Child Abuse December 1 & 2
The area Child Abuse Prevention Councils
participate in the annual  100.7 and COOL 94.3 Radiothon each December as part of an effort to prevent child abuse and neglect. The proceeds will be used to help families and children in our area.
Local programs help to educate adults and children about conflict resolution, healthy communication and safety. We hope that by educating families in our community we can stop the cycle of violence.
You can participate in many ways - 1) have an event in your place of businesses that raises funds and awareness of the upcoming Radiothon, 2) make a donation, 3) bid on over 70 silent auction items open for bidding at kikvradio.com or cool943.com open from November 25 through 10 a.m. on December 2.
If you are able to donate at this time, please make your donations payable to Radiothon to Prevent Child Abuse, PO Box 433, Alexandria, MN 56308.
Or you can donate during the 23 continuous hour Radiothon by calling the pledge line at 1-320-762-2154 starting on December 1st at 1:00 p.m. and running through December 2nd at noon.

We would like to have more entries in the Magical Christmas in Glenwood Lighted Holiday Parade this year, so think about participating! For those interested in being in the Lighted Holiday Parade, we have a short rules page this year. The only rule that is new this year is the return of an old rule, No live Santa or Mrs. Claus, other than our official Magical Christmas in Glenwood Santa who is already lined up to be on the fire truck!" Inflatables, cut outs, pictures, etc. are fine.

Vendors will be allowed to sell/showcase their products and/or services during regular banking hours. Tear down will be scheduled at 5:00 p.m on Friday. To register go to our website and register for the Magical Christmas in Glenwood Christmas Bazaar.
We typically do not allow duplicate vendors with the same products and/or services at this event due to limited space, company rules, and/or Chamber & Welcome Center policies and procedures. We have, however, in the past, worked with people to share a space or each take one of the two days if vendors so choose.

Once a booth is reserved (first-come, first-serve), another exhibitor will not be able to select it.
Sponsors will choose their booth(s) and upload their logos into the system at the time of registration. Booth locations are limited, so be sure to register early to get the spot(s) you wish to choose.
One work around that we are aware of is that the registration system will charge our sponsors for their booth rental fees at the time they register, but know that once you are registered, we will correct that pricing and issue a new invoice for Sponsors from our office until we find a way around that issue.
