Safe Disposal of Farm Plastics Available

The first 100 of 400 ag plastic recycling dumpsters arrived at the Pope County Fairgrounds on Jan. 9.

These dumpsters are available to farmers who need a safe and environmentally-friendly way of disposing of ag plastic, such as dairy wrap, bale wrap, silage bunker covers and other agricultural film plastics.

This program is offered by Revolution Plastics and is led by a group of nine central Minnesota counties and the Recycling Association of Minnesota with help from a grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency; Pope, Douglas, Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Otter Tail, Sibley, Nicollet and Le Sueur are the nine counties in this program. All agricultural producers within an 80-mile radius of Sauk Centre are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible in order to be considered for this opportunity. Only farmers who have signed up and are qualified agricultural producers will be contacted to collect their dumpster on dispersal day, which will be in late February or early March.

Once a farmer has the dumpster, it will be serviced by Revolution Plastics at no charge to the farmer. This company is a sister company to Delta Plastic, which is one of the largest agricultural film plastic manufacturers in the country. These companies are also committed to recycling the plastics they produce and repurposing them.
