PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING AND CITIZEN INPUT MEETING

A Public Informational and Citizen Input Meeting will be held February 13, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the City of Glenwood Council Chamber (City Hall), 137 Minnesota Avenue East in Glenwood.  All persons wishing to express their views with regard to elements which could be considered as part of the Park System Master Planning process are invited to attend the forum.  The online 2nd survey is still open, so if you haven’t taken the opportunity to do a survey go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T7LBNVD

Congratulations to the Pope County Tribune Staff on  winning awards in the statewide newspaper contest.

Congratualtions to the Minnewaska Lake Association on another successful family fishing challenge this past weekend.

Thank you to all Glenwood Area residents that attended the Glenwood Night With the Alexandria Blizzard.   We had a great crowd representing the Glenwood Area.  The Blizzard hockey team also had a good game and won 7 to 0!

Winterama is coming up on Saturday February 11th.  This is a fun-filled day sponsored by Glenwood and Beyond for community members of all ages as well as the Waterama Polar Plunge fundraiser that is held in conjunction with Winterama each year.

2017 Pope County Community Expo Registration Now Open

The Pope County Community Expo is set for Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Minnewaska Area High School.  Registration for exhibitors is now open and we still have room for some sponsors if you wish to become a sponsor and receive the extra benefits offered to our sponsors!

Remember, Chamber members of the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber are entitled to a 50% discount on their Expo booth rental (enter the Discount Code Member on the bottom of the first page of registration to trigger the discount on your invoice). This year, we have automated the registration system and you choose your booth location(s) during the registration process as well as have the capability to upload your logo for others to see!

This is a great way for businesses, agencies, organizations and community clubs to let Pope County residents and our neighboring communities what Pope County has to offer.  We have over 150 exhibitors that attend this event, a excellent food court, entertainment for all ages.  Free Rainbow Rider buses that stop at designated pickup spots every half hour from Glenwood, Starbuck and a Rainbow rider on the grounds at the high school that will stop and bring attendees of the event to the front doors.  Watch for more information and the schedule of events to be coming soon!

Glenwood Street Project Informational Open House

An informational open house will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Pope County Courthouse Community Room, 130 East Minnesota Avenue, Glenwood. It is scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A brief project overview will be presented at 4:15 and 5:15 p.m.

Key elements of the project include:
  • Resurfacing of Highways 28, 29 and 104 throughout Glenwood
  • Downtown Complete Streets reconstruction
  • New signal system
  • Sidewalk improvements and ADA accessibility upgrades
  • Highway 28 grade raise and realignment near the Pope County Fairgrounds
  • Downtown utility replacement
MnDOT construction staff and representatives from SEH consulting firm will present the latest layout and construction staging plans. They will also take feedback, answer questions and address concerns about the project.

Knights of Columbus Council 5727 Hawaiian Party Fundraiser

                

The Knights of Columbus Council No. 5727, Hawaiian Party Fundraiser is set for Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Lakeside Ballroom.  Tickets are $75 which includes a buffet meal for two, entertainment and a chance to win a $1,500 travel voucher or $1,500 in cash.  Second-sixth prize drawings will be for $75.00.  The drawings will take place after the dinner.  All proceeds will be used for community projects. Tickets are your receipt for a $75.00 donation to the Knights of Columbus, Council 5727. For more information or to purchase tickets contact Mark Olson at 634-4446.
