Greetings!

The 7th Annual Pope County Community Expo is just a few days away.  It is a great day to learn about the county, businesses, agencies, organizations, non-profits, and more.  There is something to do for all ages, and a delicious food court too.

If you're thinking about attending the Expo, but are concerned about the parking.  No worries, we provide
" Park and Ride" opportunities FREE to anyone who wants to attend the EXPO.   We have a transit bus for Starbuck that will pick up at the Starbuck Community Center parking lot, and at the Minnewaska House parking lot, starting at 9:00 a.m. and will be going back and forth throughout the day.  In Glenwood people can catch the bus at the East end of the Shopko parking lot and at the parking lot behind American Solutions For Business on South Franklin street, also starting at 9:00 a.m.  They will drop you off and pick you up at the front entrance of Minnewaska Area High School.

We also have a Rainbow Rider bus on the grounds throughout the day to help people who need a lift to the front door,  just give a wave to the driver if you would like to catch a ride.

If at all possible, plan to car pool to the event!!

Scroll down to find out more information on the EXPO and other events coming up in the area.

As always, there is "Plenty to do in Glenwood & Pope County!"

Have a good week!

We would like to congratulate Woodlawn Resort & Campground, on being chosen as the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber April Member of the Month!

This week's Community Comments is sponsored by the following Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber Members & Individual/Family Supporters:

Expo Exhibitor Information

Exhibitor Information:
Here are some important details that you will need to know:
  • Date: Saturday, April 8, 2017
  • Location: Minnewaska Area High School, 25122 State Highway 28, Glenwood, MN 56334
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Registration Fees: Remember that your Expo fees must be paid prior to set up. If you have not paid your registration fee, you can also pay online by clicking on the link that was included on your registration email. If you wish to pay at check-in, please notify us via email four (4) days prior to the event so we can be prepared ahead of time and speed up the check-in process.
  • Check-In: ALL Exhibitors must check in at the Expo Information table upon arrival for last minute changes, instructions, and/or announcements. The Expo Information table will be in the lobby area near the main entrance.
Booth & Exhibit Information:
  • If you are sharing a booth or promoting anyone else’s products, their name(s) must be included in the Business/organization line on the registration form. That information will be listed in the special edition newspaper.
  • Click Here for a current version of our Sponsor/Exhibitor Map & Availability!  Please note, booth numbers may change slightly but your location has not unless we have contacted you to request that you be moved to a different location
  • The gymnasium, classroom, and hallway floors need to be protected from scratches, spills, etc. If you have anything that will sit directly on the floor, YOU MUST provide something to protect the floor underneath your booth area, display, and/or demonstrations.
    • If needed, we may have limited supply scraps of vinyl to help protect the floors, but on a first-come, first serve basis while supplies last.
    • Please be cautious about what you plan to bring in to the expo exhibit areas so that the floors are protected.
  • Exhibitor Booths:
    • Various size booths are available this year with adjusted costs reflective of the size/location, with a skirted 6’ table, 1 chair, pipe and draping, and “S” hooks for hanging signs and banners from the back drop.
    • “S” hooks will be available at the information table in the front lobby area for all exhibitors who request them.
    • Stick Pins may be used to hang light weight exhibits from the back-drops this year. The fabric is thin and cannot hold a lot, so “S” hooks are highly recommended over pins.
    • Back drop panels are approximately 8' high and side panels are approximately 3' high where used (not all booths have side panels).
    • No tables are allowed in the halls, except for the designated areas!
    • Exhibitors are NOT allowed to use their own tables and chairs without prior authorization.
    • Extension cords are exhibitor’s responsibility to get electricity to their booth from the service provided in each aisle.
    • Extra tables and electricity are included for those who requested them on their registration forms and have paid for them.
  • The Expo will provide electricity to one or two locations in the gymnasium from the outer walls within each section, however, from that central point, it will be YOUR responsibility to provide extension cords and/or surge protectors for your booth area. 20-25’extension cords are recommended.

Set-Up and Tear-Down:
  • 5:00 p.m.  Outside Exhibitors: will be placed in the designated area on first come first serve basis and may begin set-up at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7th.
  • 6:30 p.m.  Lobby & Gymnasium Exhibitors:  Exhibitors may begin set-up on Friday, April 7th at 6:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 8 from  6:30 a.m.- 8:00 a.m.   Exhibitors must be done and ready to leave the school prior to 10:00 p.m. Friday evening.
  • 7:00 p.m. Food Court:  Exhibitors may begin set-up of their booths on Friday, April 7th at 7:00 p.m.  Food Court vendors should plan to be set-up by 9:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8th and all lunch type vendors in the food court must be ready to sell at 10:00 a.m.  The food court will be open until 3:30 p.m.
  • ALL Exhibitors must be finished with loading/unloading prior to 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning and have their booths set-up prior to 8:30 a.m.
  • Exhibitors must wait until 3:30 p.m. to begin tear down or start dismantling your booth area on Saturday, April 8.

Loading Docks
  • Exhibitors that are loading/unloading may do so in the front of the Main Entrance doors of the school, in the area marked Pick-Up and Drop-Off Only.
    • We will have volunteers driving gators to help assist exhibitors with getting their exhibits from the parking lot to the main entrance doors.
    • You will be responsible for loading/unloading gators, unless we have extra volunteers available to assist. The drivers will not be expected to load/unload your products.
  • Once unloaded, you must move your vehicle to the designated parking areas to allow other exhibitors the loading/unloading space.  We have a transit “Rainbow Rider” bus and gators on the grounds throughout the day, so if you would like to catch a ride, “just give them a wave to stop”.
  • Loading Dock A (North side of the high school) may be used by exhibitors who need access to a loading dock. In addition, this area is to be used for ALL Food Court vendors for catering in their food to avoid bringing food through the exhibit areas and hallways during hours of operation.
  • Loading Dock B (West side of the high school) may be accessed for extra-large materials, equipment, and/or exhibits that need to be brought in to the school.
Parking:
  • Beginning at 8:00 Saturday morning, ALL Exhibitors must have their vehicles moved to the designated parking area of the school parking lot.
    • Two-thirds (2/3) of the South Parking lots are reserved for visitors only, all exhibitors must park in the area directly adjacent to the new baseball fields/stadium area.
    • Should the South parking lot be full, you may park in the West Parking lot, if needed, but space is limited.
  • You may enter the school from the designated doors on the appropriate side.
 Other Information:
  • MAHS is a LATEX-FREE FACILITY, therefore, mylar balloons only will be allowed this year.
  • Exhibitor surveys will be available online starting the day of the Expo and we encourage you to log in during the day to complete the online exhibitor survey which will be emailed to you prior to the Expo.
  • One lucky exhibitor will be drawn from the online surveys to receive an additional 25% off of their registration fees for next year's event!
On behalf of the Pope County Community Expo Planning Committee, we wish to thank you for your support and participation in this year’s 7th Annual Pope County Community Expo!
