Offroad Bicycling in Barsness Park

As part of Glenwood's efforts to receive a regional park designation, the Barsness Park & Lake Minnewaska Regional Recreational Area master plan was recently approved by both the Park Board & City Commission. A portion of this master plan included an area near the current trails that was dedicated to future trail efforts.

The Runestone Area Offroad Bicycling Club will bring forth a request to the Glenwood Park Board and City Commission for approval to develop a 5 to 10 mile single track bicycle course in Barsness Park within the City of Glenwood. They are hopeful that this family friendly sport will attract local and outside riders to visit this course as part of a regional bike system in West Central Minnesota.

They are also hopeful that this will allow for future development of a Minnewaska Area High School mountain bike team.  They hope that with the proper approvals and planning efforts, that construction could begin as soon as summer of 2017. If you have questions, concerns, or if this is of interest to you, please contact Tom Haus or Jim Beck (click on the links to open an email browser and contact them via email).
