The 22nd Annual Glenwood Lakes Area Kids Day/ Take a Kid Fishing /Bike Rodeo & Obstacle Course is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2017.

Kids' Day starts at 8:30 a.m.

8:30-11:00 a.m. - Take a Kid Fishing (bait is provided by Fetterer's Bait.)

Following the Fishing we have a Boat & Water Safety Demonstration by  Daniel Baumbarger, MN Conservation Officer.

11:30-12:00 - Kids are welcome to frost their own "Summer Time"  yummy sugar cookie.

12:00-1:00 p.m.  Lunch is prepared and served by the Glenwood Fire Department and Minnewaska Meats.

This is just the beginning of a free fun-filled day for children 17 and under.

The 62nd  Glenwood Waterama is looking for applicants to participate in this years Glenwood Waterama Junior Royalty competition next year's Waterama Queen.  Applications can be found in this week's Pope County Tribune and Starbuck Times.

The Pope County Farmers' Market, Glenwood season is open from June 10 through October, 2017 depending on weather and produce availability.  

The Glenwood Pope County Farmers Market  is located at the Pope County Fairgrounds, Minnesota Avenue West or State Highway 28 W, Glenwood. 

The Market is open  on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  A Mental Health Awareness Walk, presented by Pope County Local Advisory Council will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 5:00 p.m.  The walk begins at Community Partners Drop-In Center, 125 East Minnesota Avenue to the Glenwood Retirement Village/Chapel at 719 SE 2nd Street, Glenwood.

Following the walk at 6:00 p.m. Jody Freyholtz-London will speak on"Improving Public Understanding about Mental Illness",  refreshments will be served.  RSVP encouraged by calling 320-634-4089.

Taste on the Lake

The Minnewaska Laker Foundation invites you to join us as we toast the positive benefits our athletic, arts and academic activities have on building successful young adults and strong                                                       communities.  

The fifth annual Taste on the Lake, a wine and microbrew experience sponsored by the Minnewaska Laker Foundation, is slated to take place at the Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

This event is part of the focused effort by the Foundation to continue to create awareness on their work and to raise funds to support educational opportunities for student participation in Minnewaska Laker athletics, fine arts, music and academic activities.

The Taste on the Lake will feature a live auction at 8:30 p.m. for a trip to Napa Valley with private wine tastings.

Cost per ticket is $20 in advance, $25 at the door.  Tickets are available at Pizza Ranch or from any board Member.

PROGRAM DETAILS
Distribution of food begins at 12 p.m. but
registration begins at 11:00 a.m.  At registration you
receive a number that coordinates with your
spot in line.

The Pope County Mobile Food Drop takes
place once a month at Glenwood United
Parish, 10 17th Ave NW, Glenwood, MN 56334.
There are no income guidelines or
requirements. Anyone who lives in Pope
County is able to attend. Please bring your
own boxes to carry food received.

GETTING INVOLVED
The Food Drop is supported by donations
from businesses, organizations and individual
community members. You can help by making
a donation or volunteering at a food drop.
Each month we need 25 volunteers to work at
the Pope County Mobile Food Drop.
Volunteers are needed to unload food, pass
out food and help attendees cart and carry
food received. If you or your business or
organization are interested contact Maria
Haug, Volunteer Coordinator, at
mhaug@uwdp.org.
