Hope Community Church - Host Meal at Thursday Night on the Town, Starbuck
Thursday evening, June 22, 2017, 4:00-7:00 p.m. Hope Community Church is sponsoring the Thursday Night on the Town meal at Heritage Square in Starbuck. Come enjoy a pulled pork meal, visit with others and enjoy the music of a live band.
2017 Summer Reading Program, Reading by Design, begins Thursday, June 29th
The 2017 Summer Reading Program Reading by Design, begins Thursday, June 29, at 2:00 p.m.
Ralph Covert first came to public attention in the '90s with his smart pop band The Bad Example, who toured nationally. The 2000s saw the arrival of his children's music project Ralph's World which garnered a Grammy nomination. Ralph will be our first performer; the project is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage fund, sponsored by Viking Library System.

The following Thursdays the Library will feature Dazzling Dave the Yo-Yo Man and Brodini, our favorite magician.
Glenwood Library Accepting Used Books for Waterama Sale
The Glenwood Public Library is accepting used books for their annual Waterama Used Book Sale. Please make sure they are in fair to good condition. Do not leave magazines, textbooks or encyclopedias. Proceeds from this sale go toward children's programs including the popular summer Reading Program.
Pope County Seniors - Annual 4th of July Party
Seniors! It is time to get your ticket for the annual Pope County Senior Citizens 4th of July party! Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Minnewaska House.
A picnic lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. The menu includes barbeque, salad, cake,lemonade and coffee. Entertainment will be provided by Lyndon Pederson the "One Man Band!"
Rainbow Rider will be offering free bus transportation. Call 1-800-450-7770 to register for the bus.
For tickets call 634-7837. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at all senior dining sites, from Pope County Council of aging members or at the senior office at the Pope County Public Health and Human Services building.
Stadium Dedication Weekend June 23-26
Stadium Dedication Weekend to feature baseball, free events.
Admission to all events is free during the Stadium Dedication Weekend planned at the new Marthaler Field at the Minnewaska Area High School on Friday through Sunday, June 23-26.

Congratulations to Pope County Relay for Life organizers, volunteers and participants on another successful event.
We had a beautiful night last Thursday night for our first "Music in the Park" concert.
Our next concert is scheduled for Thursday, June 22. Chris Herriges will perform.
Twin Cities based musician Chris Herriges had a nice run on regional radio with his recordings in the 90's. Since then, he has settled in to making his living with his voice and guitar in clubs, restaurants, hotels and resorts throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Chris will provide a variety concert on June 22, featuring music of The Beatles.
This past Saturday the Farmers' Market opened for the season. Come check out our vendors on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
This Saturday is the Annual Pope County Hospice Ride. The ride starts at 1:00 p.m. from the Glenwood City park. You can get more information by visiting their website at http://www.glacialridge.org/Ride or you can email Tina Blair at tina.blari@glacialridge.org.

2017 Kids' Day Bike Winners
Free Summer Meals for Kids & Teens
Minnewaska Area Schools is participating in the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided free of charge to all children who have not reached their 19th birthday. Meals will be provided at the Minnewaska Area Day Treatment building cafeteria, serving Monday-Friday, starting June 6. Breakfast will be served from 8-9:30 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. There will be no meals served July 3-5.
Adult may eat too, however, they will need to pay $1.75 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch.

Pope County Farmers' Market to Begin, June 10th
 The Pope County Farmers' Market, Glenwood season is open from June 10 through October, 2017 depending on weather and produce availability.
The Pope County Farmers Market, Glenwood is located at the Pope County Fairgrounds, Minnesota Avenue West or State Highway 28 W, Glenwood.
The Market is open on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
