CP Lighted Holiday Train announces it will stop in Glenwood December 12th!
October 23, 2017
Dear Mayor Formo Sr.:
I am delighted to announce that the 2017 CP Holiday Train will be making a stop in Glenwood on December 12, 2017.
Thanks to the generous support of great communities like yours, the Holiday Train has raised over $13 million and 4 million pounds of food since 1999 to help those in need.
ABOUT THE HOLIDAY TRAIN
The Holiday Train is decorated with thousands of lights, and includes a boxcar converted into a stage from which the band entertains the crowd. Each show typically lasts for about 30 minutes. These events are free, we ask only that people bring a cash or food donation to your local food bank/shelf (who will be in attendance at the show).
CP also makes a corporate donation at each stop. All of the donations remain with that food bank/shelf. Thanks to the generous support of communities along our network, this annual fundraising program has raised over $13 million and 4 million pounds of food since its start in 1999. More information is available at www.cpr.ca/en/community/holiday-train .
This is a great fundraiser for Pope County. If you would like to donate non-perishable items, or cash, we will have drop boxes from December 1-11 at Central Square, Eagle Bank, Glacial Hills Elementary School, Glenwood Chamber & Welcome Center, Glenwood State Bank, Minnewaska Area Elementary School and Kingdom Kids. Items can be brought that morning also to the depot.
The train will arrive by 10 a.m. The show featuring Terri Clark, Dallas Smith and Kelly Prescott will begin promptly at 10:15 a.m.-10:45 a.m. and then the train leaves for their next stop.
The Oak Tree Inn and Penny's Diner will provide cookies and hot chocolate from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the CP Railway Depot.
Remember to allow extra time for parking and walking.
