Exhibitor Registration for 2018 Pope County Community Expo to Open Dec. 1
2018 Pope County Community Expo Exhibitor Registration to open on Friday, December 1st, 2017. Booths are limited on a first come first serve basis.
Community Blood Drive, Glenwood American Legion
The American Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive on Thursday, November 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Glenwood American Legion Post 187 in Glenwood. The American Legion is located at 186 Highway 55.
Walk-ins are welcome.
Winter Parking Reminder
The City of Glenwood reminds residents and those parking on city streets to be mindful of snow events and make arrangements for off-street parking. Vehicles were not towed following the last snowfall, but moving forward vehicles that are parked on city streets during snow removal operations WILL BE TOWED. Please take note of this reminder for the upcoming winter months.
2018 Minnewaska Visitor Guide
The 2018 Minnewaska Visitor Guide published annually by the
Pope County Tribune/Starbuck Times is advertising now for
anyone interested in putting information in the guide to reserve their space! They have a 10% discount paid by October 27th and 8% if paid by December 15, 2017. Space deadline is December 1, 2017. Contact Emma at the Tribune at 320-634-4571.
The guide is due to be published by January 1, 2018.
With that being said, we do the Calendar of events for this guide. All dates are due to Kay at the Glenwood Chamber and Welcome Center by Monday, November 27, 2018.
Email any of your upcoming dates to info@WelcomeGlenwood.org.
All dates received will be submitted to the staff at Pope County Tribune/Starbuck Times and they make the final decision on which dates will be published.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving.
Thank you to all the Pope County churches and community volunteers on another successful Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
Magical Christmas in Glenwood Celebration begins this Thursday, November 30th, with the Lighted Holiday Parade at 5:30 p.m. The parade route is the same as the last few years on Minnesota Avenue. American Solutions for Business will serve hot chocolate and popcorn at the pocket park. There is still time to sign up!
Following the parade at 6:15 to about 6:30 p.m. will be the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony and refreshments will be served at the ceremony. At 6:30 p.m. is the free family movie "Happy Feet" showing in the Central Square Gym. The movie and concessions are free! The movie should end shortly after 8 p.m.

Remember to Light Up the Town at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday!

- 4:30-5:00 p.m. - Parade participants, staging and line up at the First Baptist Church Parking lot, 515 2nd Avenue, Glenwood.
- 5:15 p.m. - Parade units begin to line up on North Lakeshore Drive
- 5:30 p.m. - Parade begins
- 6:15 - 6:30 p.m. - Tree Lighting Ceremony in the courtyard and front steps of Central Square Cultural & Civic Center
- 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. - Free Family Movie night in the auditorium at Central Square Cultural & Civic Center
All entires are judged along the parade route for the "Best Holiday Spirit" Traveling Trophy!
Lighted entries can include lights, candles, flashlights, glow sticks, etc. Be creative and make this Magical Christmas in Glenwood Lighted Holiday Parade something fun and enjoyable for your team members and the entire community!

The theme for 2018 is "What's Changing in Pope County?" with a special emphasis on the following Pope County projects:
- MnDOT 2018: Glenwood Complete Streets Project;
- MnDOT 2019: Highway 28 between Glenwood & Starbuck; and
- MnDOT 2020: Starbuck Complete Streets Project
with engineers, state (MnDOT), County, and City representatives, general contractors, etc. on site to answer questions, show plans, and take comments/feedback on the projects that are helping to shape and redefine Pope County's landscape and physical features!
In addition, we have the following that are being promoted as feature exhibits:
- SCDP 2017-2020: Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) for Glenwood & Starbuck
- Barsness Park & Lake Minnewaska Regional Recreation Area: Off-road cycling trails, disc golf course expansions & more!

The exhibitor layout this year has changed to allow for larger booth areas, discounted rates, and a variety of locations, however, there is a reduced number of booths available this year. Register today as they will fill up fast as they are first-come, first-serve! When registering, please be sure that you choose the correct booth for you according to the following color schemes as noted on the exhibitor booth map:

Make a Child’s Christmas Bright – The tradition of serving Pope County families continues as Armful of Love 2017 is underway. The community can help local families by donating a new gift item or gift certificates. Drop off new unwrapped gifts by Dec. 4., Adopt a family by buying gifts for their children.

Thursday, December 7th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Central Square Gym. Are you feeling stressed by the holidays? Would you like to take some time to stop and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas? Come prepare your heart for Advent by walking through interactive stations that help you meditate, pray, and reflect on the coming of the Christ child. Open to the public compliments of Central Square and Hope Community Church. Plan about 30-40 minutes for your walk through.
