Volunteers Needed for the Living Nativity

We are in need of some actors for the Living Nativity on Thursday, December 21st from4:00-4:30 and  5:30-7:00 p.m.

Fist Shift  4:00-5:30 p.m.  We  need two Shepherd, one Angel and Mary.
Second Shift: 5:30-7:30 p.m.  We need Joseph and Mary, three Angels, one King, two Shepherds.   Contact the Glenwood Chamber & Welcome Center at 320-634-3636 or email Kay at info@GlenwoodLakesArea.org if you can help with the living nativity.

All costumes are provided, just need to be in character at the outdoor manger, located on the vacant lot between Subway and GrandStay Hotel.  All actors need to dress warmly, costumes will fit over outdoor wear.

2018 Pope County Community Expo Exhibitor Registration is now open.  Booths are limited on a first come first serve basis.

 All dates received will be submitted to the staff at Pope County Tribune/Starbuck Times and they make the final decision on which dates will be published.

Winter Parking Reminder



The City of Glenwood reminds residents and those parking on city streets to be mindful of snow events and make arrangements for off-street parking.  Vehicles were not towed following the last snowfall, but moving forward vehicles that are parked on city streets during snow removal operations WILL BE TOWED.  Please take note of this reminder for the upcoming winter months.

Thank you to all who attended the Community Supper.  It was a great evening for community members to share a meal and visit. 

Thank you to:  Stacy  Gerdes, Hatchery Catering for catering the Community Supper and to our vendors that evening Janet Fossen, Clueless the Elf who provided balloon twisting and entertainment and Erickson's Petting Zoo who provided the horse and wagon rides.

Thank you to our volunteers:  Waterama Royalty & Brass, Alexandria Blizzard Hockey team members,  Glenwood State Bank: Jordan McMahon and Julie Malecek;  Chamber & Welcome Center Board Members: Dean Peterson, Grandstay Hotel & Suites and Michael Claunch, Eagle Bank.

Thank you to:  Minnewaska Area Elementary School, Glacial Hills Elementary School and St. Mary's school from Morris for sending students to participate and enjoy  the Lighted Holiday Train event this morning.

Magical Christmas in Glenwood continues this Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with the Free Chamber & Welcome Center Open House and Family Night.  There are several activities planned, including a visit from Santa Claus,  Free photos will be taken that evening from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  

Adults and Parents relax and enjoy some refreshments compliments of the chamber & welcome center.

The Coloring Contest, officially started at the Community Supper.  We have three categories  by age, so participants need to find their age bracket, complete the pictures and return to the Chamber/Welcome Center by Monday, December 18th. The winners will be announced on Thursday, December 21st at noon.  Minnewaska Dollars are given to the top three contestants in each age bracket - 0-4, 5-8, 9-12.

On Thursday, December 21st, we celebrate "the reason for the season" with the Living Nativity from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  We have camels, donkey, farm animals including sheep as part of the nativity. 

We do need some actors for the second shift 5:30-7:00 p.m.  so contact us at 320-634-3636 if you can help.

The theme for 2018 is "What's Changing in Pope County?" with a special emphasis on the following Pope County projects:
  • MnDOT 2018: Glenwood Complete Streets Project;
  • MnDOT 2019: Highway 28 between Glenwood & Starbuck; and
  • MnDOT 2020: Starbuck Complete Streets Project
with engineers, state (MnDOT), County, and City representatives, general contractors, etc. on site to answer questions, show plans, and take comments/feedback on the projects that are helping to shape and redefine Pope County's landscape and physical features!

The popularity of Chamber networking programs continues! A real benefit of businesses is the opportunity to host a Rise & Shine event. Your business or organization is eligible to host a Rise & Shine event as often as you wish.

Rise & Shine provides hosts an ideal opportunity to introduce its business and employees, offer tours of their facility, and showcase their services and products. This is the host member's time to shine!

Non-refundable hosting fee: Waived for ALL 2018 Rise & Shine Events due to the 2018 Complete Streets Project and the Chamber's desire to draw people to your business.
