A Warning From Pope County Sheriff: Continue to be cautious on area lakes

On Saturday, January 13, the Pope County Sheriff's Office reported that it had responded to two different vehicles going through the ice on Lake Minnewaska over the past two days.  Occupants in both instances were able to safely escape the partially submerged vehicles.

The Sheriff's Office is again warning everyone that, even with the recent extremely cold temperatures, ice conditions can and will vary.  Know the ice conditions prior to driving on any body of water and never drive over an ice heave.  Often times there is open water near and under the heave.

The DNR had many resources for those wishing to travel on the ice

Winter Parking Reminder

The City of Glenwood reminds residents and those parking on city streets to be mindful of snow events and make arrangements for off-street parking.  Vehicles were not towed following the last snowfall, but moving forward vehicles that are parked on city streets during snow removal operations WILL BE TOWED.  Please take note of this reminder for the upcoming winter months.
