March Student of the Month:
Ivan Chavez
Ivan Chavez is a Senior at Hardee Senior High School and currently holds a 4.49 Weighted GPA. He is ranked 4th out of 285 students in his graduating class.
Mrs. Susan Barton is the STEM Coach at HSHS and nominated Ivan for the Chamber Student of the Month. On her recommendation form, Mrs. Barton wrote:
Ivan is an outstanding student at HHS! I have known him for the past four years as a member of the STEM Scholars Club, Alpha Zeta Pi. Ivan will receive the Letter of Distinction from the Commissioner of Education, Pam Stewart, for his rigorous academic course requirements and participation in STEM-related activities. In addition to attending STEM Forums at many Universities and Colleges, Ivan also completed Summer Internships at Techknow Camp and Floridan. Additionally, he attended a weeklong Engineering Summer Camp at Florida Gulf Coast University. Ivan has earned over 200 hours in STEM Activities including participation as a Judge for the Hardee Junior High Science Fair, a volunteer presenter at the Hardee High School EXPO, and 8th Grade Biotechnology Orientation. Ivan is a young man of the highest integrity who hopes to serve HHS well at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he plans to pursue an Engineering Degree.
Ivan is also highly involved in other school activities, particularly the Key Club and National Honor Society.
Other staff members who have had the opportunity to work closely with Ivan have this to say about him:
Mrs. Chela Calves states, “I have had the honor of having Ivan as my student worker 4th period. He has been a great help with a lot of the office procedures and has been a joy to work with. Ivan is a hard worker and is always on task on all that needs to be done.”
Ivan’s English teacher, Mrs. Rachel Thompson stated, “Ivan astonishes me with his level of commitment and work ethic. His jobs are never done half-heartedly but with always with the full measure of his capabilities.”
