Harmer's Town Art Center

About Harmer's Town Art Center

Harmer’s Town Art Center (HTAC), Inc. exists to create, support, promote and manage a vibrant ecosystem of creativity in the form of an art center, artist park, and associated facilities in which artists can work, create, perform, teach, and market their art, all while preserving and celebrating the history and traditions of Havre de Grace.

The property, known as Harmer’s Town Art Center, consists of a one-acre art park (Graw Alley) now open to the public and the future art center building (39,800 sq. feet). Ongoing efforts are focused on capital fundraising to renovate the future art facility as well as planning art programs and events in Graw Alley until the building is available for usage.

Havre de Grace boasts a rich history dating back to the mid-1500s with explorers navigating the Chesapeake Bay. Originally known as Harmer's Town in 1658, it was later renamed Havre de Grace, inspired by French General Lafayette. Almost becoming the U.S. capital in 1789, the town has a storied past that the art center honors and celebrates. Its mission is to enrich the community through the transformative power of art, drawing inspiration from Havre de Grace's heritage.
