NEW Ohio Workers' Compensation Chamber Program!

Dear Chamber Members,

In our effort to contain Ohio workers' compensation rates for our members, we have found that membership in a group rating program is the most cost effective route to pursue. As a current chamber member, you would have no additional association dues to pay for participation into our chamber sponsored group plan.

We recommend the services of ProComp Risk Advisors for placement of your company in the proper BWC certified group rating program. They are a locally owned TPA and we are confident they will fulfill any of your workers' compensation concerns in a professional and responsive manner. Group discounts range from -10% to -53% discount of BWC base rates.

If you have any questions, please direct your inquires directly to Matt Ulrich at (419) 724-2667 or mulrich@procomp.biz. You may also visit our website at www.hschamber.com and click JOIN to learn more about this program offered to our members at the Chamber.

Sincerely,
Josh Torres
President and CEO

Paramount Insurance Available for Chamber members!

Picture

Many businesses, especially smaller businesses, want affordable health insurance for their employees, but lack the buying power of much larger companies. By joining the Holland-Springfield Chamber of Commerce, smaller businesses can take advantage of group buying power through special Alliance plans from Paramount that offer extremely competitive prices and a variety of plan options.  Paramount’s association plans are for northwest Ohio businesses with 2-49 employees, as well as self-employed individuals who belong to an association.  Alliance plans are available fully-funded, under our HMO or CDHP platform. We have a variety of association plan options for you to choose from. Please contact the Chamber today for more information and to be connected with one of our brokers.

Chamber Energy Solutions Market Update!

Energy Market Update

Electric:  Intermediate weather forecasts seem to be altered more than once on a daily basis, causing electricity prices to move in a somewhat sideways pattern much like we experienced this past summer.  If the infamous El Nino has a direct effect on warming winter temperatures, then we likely haven’t hit the low point yet in either the electric or the natural gas market.  Much speculation has been made about what would happen should the psychologically important 4 tcf threshold be reached for winter storage.  With that number now being reached, any fears of drastically frigid winter weather should be combatted by the fact that a record supply has been accumulated, meaning electricity prices shouldn’t be running away anytime in the near future.  Now remains an excellent time to price your account and see what options are available for cost-savings third party power supplies.

Gas: As expected, temperatures over the past month have been quite a bit warmer than usual. The question is, will December and January follow suit? Regardless of how the winter months play out, storage looks to have reached its peak and currently sits at 4,009 BCF, setting a record for most gas in underground inventories. This should help qualm any drastic moves towards higher natural gas prices. The November contract did settle at $2.03 and the December contract recently settled at $2.21. Despite the month to month increase, natural gas pricing is still well below last year’s December settlement of $4.28.

If you would like Chamber Energy Solutions to review your electric and natural gas bills, please contact the Chamber or your CES consultant.

Open House Available to Public to Learn More about The Springfield Township Energy District

December 11, 2015 from 10AM to 2PM

Barron’s Lawn Services LLC of Springfield Township will be conducting an open house December 11, 2015 to showcase facility energy improvements achieved through government financing administered by the Lucas County Port Authority created energy district.

Representatives from Barron’s Lawn Services LLC, Springfield Energy District, Lucas County Port Authority and others will be conducting an open house December 11, 2015 from 10AM to 2PM to demonstrate how businesses can coordinate energy usage and facilities improvements to meet government assistance and loan program requirements.  The public is invited to view the energy usage and improvements made to the facility and speak with representatives of how facility energy efficiency can be achieved at low to no cost.

Barron’s Lawn Services LLC of Springfield Township took advantage of the recently formed Springfield Township Energy District to finance their facilities energy efficiency improvements.  Barron’s was able to use the US Department of Energy (DOE) Pace program, low interest loan administered through the Lucas County Port Authority to improve their facilities energy efficiency.  The project managed by AJ Gustafson of TEK Engineering for Barron’s, replaced energy inefficient doors, windows, and roof, replaced the buildings HVAC, furnace and hot water systems and provided LED lights both inside and out.

AJ Gustafson designed the project creating the energy efficiencies to provide the needed energy savings and corresponding return on investment (ROI) required by various government assistance programs.  Positive Trades Group, Sperling Heating and Cooling, Lake Erie Electric, Seiler Construction, AJ Door and 4 Guys and A Roof were the local contractors who worked in concert to see that the project was successful and on time.

Open House will be on December 11, 2015 from 10AM to 2PM at:

Barron’s Lawn Services LLC
8800 Airport Hwy.
Holland, OH  43528
Tel. (419) 841-4705
