Mahaska Communication Group Wants to Know
Do you want MCG Fiber in Your Home? Communities served by Google will have nothing on Indianola after Mahaska Communication Group (MCG) turns on 1000Mb service to parts of the city in early 2015, according to Steve Burnett, MCG’s Marketing and Sales Manager.
MCG, headquartered in nearby Oskaloosa, is the partner Indianola Municipal Utilities (IMU) chose two years ago to deliver Internet, TV and voice services to business customers and the residential areas of the community where IMU is installing Fiber-to-the-Home. Currently, Indianola MCG customers can get Internet speeds ranging from 3Mb to 100Mb in their bundles, and in early 2015 capabilities will be raised to 1000Mb, which is sometimes referred to as Gigabit service. What is the significance of Gigabit speed? Today’s average internet speed allows a customer to download an HD movie in 22 minutes. The same HD movie will download in 7 seconds with Gigabit speed.
