Indianola Rallies For Make a Difference Day

Every participant is asked to raise money for the Hope Foundation, a non-profit group created to provide one-time emergencty assistance to families in need.

The inspiration for this event comes from Eva Grabel, a 7th grader from Indianola. She said, "I wanted to do something to celebrate Make a Difference Day and try to get people interested in giving back to our wonderful community. When I heard there are kids I go to school with who don’t have winter coats or sometimes don’t have any food in their kitchen, it made me think that we should do something to help.”

The Hope Foundation has been in existence for four years and has raised and donated nearly $60,000 to Indianola families who are in great need of food, medical, transportation, clothing, or shelter assistance. Hope is comprised of a group of former schoolteachers who rely entirely on the generosity of businesses, service groups and individuals for funding.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up to help by visiting www.makeadifferenceday.com. Walkers and runners may register by calling the Indianola Parks and Recreation at          515-961-9420.
