Inspiring Women of Iowa event is a celebration recognizing influential women in communities across the state, with proceeds going to the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa.  The 12 finalists, selected from over 70 nominations, embody Courage, Confidence and Character - all traits that many girls develop while in Girl Scouts.

In Iowa, approximately 80% of tobacco users want to quit.  Having education available at work and implementing a tobacco-free policy creates a supportive environment for current tobacco users trying to quit.  It also promotes a healthy environment for all employees, clients, and visitors.

The Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Indianola Chamber of Commerce can help you get a jump start on your wellness with the Get Active Wellness Toolkit, aimed at helping local small businesses provide turn-key wellness programming for their employees. 
 
The Get Active Wellness Toolkit was inspired by the Greater Des Moines business community’s support of making Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. A Capital Crossroads survey revealed that many small business owners like the idea of helping their employees remain healthy, but don’t have enough time, expertise or resources to implement a program. The Get Active Wellness Toolkit removes those barriers by arming businesses with “plug-and-play” content to help them implement a wellness program within their offices.  The program is a benefit of membership to one of the Partnership’s 24 Affiliate Chambers of Commerce in Central Iowa, and is available to them at no additional cost.
 
Each month, Chamber Member businesses may download a new one-page poster and handout that provides wellness tips, facts and resources to give employees immediate takeaways that they can implement in their daily lives. Here’s an example, for every hour of exercise, you do, you could live two hours longer, even if you don’t start working out until you are middle aged."
