Mentoring for Women Events April 18
“Companies run by women are entering the middle market at rates eight times faster than businesses in general”. “While the number of middle-market firms grew by 4 percent between 2008 and 2014, the number of women-owned/led firms in the middle market increased by 32 percent” according to a study by American Express and Dun & Bradstreet. As the numbers continue to grow, communities in Greater Des Moines (DSM) are committed to working with these women to create better futures for themselves and their communities. The Partnership and its Affiliate Chambers of Commerce continue to raise awareness by offering local programming around this topic.
Regional Mentoring For Women Events to Take Place Throughout DSM on April 18
The Greater Des Moines Partnership and its regional Affiliate Chambers of Commerce will host a series of Regional Mentoring For Women events throughout DSM on Thursday, April 18. The events are designed for women to find inspiration and guidance on their careers through networking, coaching and mentoring sessions from the region’s most influential business leaders. Events are open to anyone who would like to network and further their professional development.

The Child Abuse Prevention Council is encouraging people in Warren County to take action to create the great childhoods all children deserve because our children are our future. Child Abuse Prevention Month celebrates the small actions each of us can take that make a big impact on the well-being of our children. Healthy development in childhood establishes the foundation for future health, learning and overall well-being into adulthood. A community built on caring relationships strengthens families from the start and gives parents with a history of trauma an opportunity to heal.
Stewards of Children Presentation on April 4 at 6:30 p.m. Wells Fargo building
Stewards of Children is a prevention-training program that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
Blue Out Day - Friday, April 5

When the sun goes down, the FUN begins! Participants need to bring their own flashlight and a sack for eggs. After the hunt, prizes will be awarded and then join us for s'mores around the campfire!
