How to Find Time for Social Media

Small business owners, especially those businesses with under 10 employees, find it extremely difficult to justify the time on social media because it doesn’t lead to predictable, measurable cost savings or revenue.

Social media and content marketing are about becoming an engaging resource for your customers. What’s the yield of a relationship? If you can figure out what a relationship is worth in revenue dollars, you should be blogging about it.

The truth is, we can’t. Not exactly at least. But we know people buy from people they know, like, and trust and that’s why it’s important to invest time in building these connections and affections.

Finding that time is easier said than done. Still here are a couple of suggestions on how to carve out some time to increase your efforts on social media.

Four Benefits of Promoting a Culture of Even Better

Here at Your Clear Next Step, we have long believed in and practiced creating a culture of even better. What is that? Well, it is the relentless pursuit of continuous improvement. It turns out promoting a culture of “even better” produces some remarkable benefits. It is something that, when done well, others notice, comment on, and appreciate. Of course, it has its challenges, but first let’s explore some of the key benefits.

1. Self-Awareness
In a culture that promotes even better, we make a habit of continually reflecting on the job we are doing. Often, we’ll pause after completing something to reflect on what has just happened. Almost by default, self-awareness gets daily practice in a culture of even better.

2. Humility
The reality is egos can’t get out of control or over-inflated if, at every turn, we’re stopping to realize the thing that we just did was not the best that it could be. A culture of even better prevents us from getting complacent, lazy, or too confident that we’ve mastered any given approach.

3. Resilience
So many people struggle with criticism or correction. But when we are in a culture of “even better” we actually create an environment in which giving and receiving feedback is so much safer and easier.

Read the Q & A Here

Is the Indianola YMCA closing?
No, the Indianola YMCA is not closing. We are, however, working proactively with the Indianola community to determine a more financially viable path forward. Since opening in 2013, the Indianola YMCA has not generated sufficient revenue to cover its operating costs. This arrangement is not sustainable into the future.

How is the membership at the Indianola YMCA branch?
The Indianola Y currently has 2,400 membership units, representing nearly 6,300 individual members.  Membership saturation in the city of Indianola is high; however, memberships anticipated from surrounding communities when the facility was constructed have not materialized.

Can Indianola sustain a YMCA branch?
The Indianola Y derives operating revenue from three sources: memberships, program fees and contributed income from donors.  The Indianola YMCA has a solid membership base; however, as with any operation in the private or public field, rising costs associated with utilities, maintenance, staff and other administrative costs necessary to operate the Y have an impact on the financial performance of our branch.
