Five Tips to Help Us Apologize Better

In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need to apologize. We wouldn’t do dumb stuff; we wouldn’t keep making mistake after mistake.

Unfortunately, we know, this is not a perfect world. We are fallen critters and we live in a fallen world that is fraught with countless opportunities to get it wrong. From my own faith perspective, I know that this capacity is a gift that comes from a divine source who has demonstrated grace and forgiveness to me.

But even within the kindness of friendship or the grace and compassion of a good, solid working relationship, there is room for forgiveness, especially if we apologize. So, today we offer five tips to help us apologize better.

1. Reflect.
We’ve written before about the relentless pursuit of “Even Better”. If we have a habit of reflecting on our conversations, we have a greater chance of finding those moments that we need to apologize for. Everyone enjoys the holidays more with fun holiday activities.  Give people a reason to stop by your business by participating in the TOUR OF TREES!

We've taken the Festival of Trees to a whole new level.  Instead of placing a tree in a downtown business (like the last few years), why not showcase your award-winning tree in your business!  Participation is easy.  Here's how it will work:
  1. Email your participation to barb@indianolachamber.com; include a contact name, phone, address of tree, and email by November 1, 2019 (include name of Face Book page if posting your own page.)
  2.  Get your tree decorated and up by November 22, 2019 (tree can be inside or outside)
  3. Post a picture of your tree on your Face Book page to share the beauty with everyone! (Be sure to share the name of the Face Book page with us.)
All Tour of Tree participating businesses will be listed on the Indianola Chamber's website for the public to plan their own tours!

Participants will vote for the "Best Dressed Tree" November 22 - December 20 online at indianolachamber.com. The winning business will receive $50!
