2019 Small Business Success Summit
The purpose of the Small Business Success Summit is to inform, educate and inspire business owners in Greater Des Moines (DSM). The summit will host three keynote speakers and 18 breakout sessions on a variety of timely topics that affect business owners and managers. The Indianola Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for two volunteer board of director openings. Business and community leaders with vision are encouraged to serve and participate in governing and strategic initiatives of the Chamber, which represents nearly 300 businesses and organizations.
 
Board terms are three years, and selected individuals from this year’s nominations will be seated January 16, 2020, at the Chamber's annual dinner and business meeting.
 
Any Chamber business or organization in good standing may submit a nomination and interested people may self-nominate. Please send an email with the name, email address, and phone number of the nominee to brenda@indianolachamber.com no later than October 15, 2019. The nominee will be contacted by the nominating committee to complete a formal board questionnaire.

2.  Get your tree decorated and up by November 22, 2019 (tree can be inside or outside)
3. Post a picture of your tree on your Face Book page to share the beauty with everyone! (Be sure to share the name of the Face Book page with us.)

Participants will vote for the "Best Dressed Tree" November 22 - December 20 online at indianolachamber.com. The winning business will receive $50!

Help Light Up the Square this holiday season. This new event is a fun, festive and unique way to kick off the holidays. Families, neighbors and friends will stroll around the square and enjoy each of the Lighted Stationary Parade displays. (Due to limited lighting around the Square, the parade will not move.)
 
The public will vote for their favorite display on the Chamber’s Website. The winner will receive a fun traveling award to display in their business during the holiday season.
 
Here’s how you can participate:

• Theme: Favorite Holiday Tune
• Create a festive and fun lighted display based on your Favorite Holiday Tune. Displays can be created on a vehicle, float or tent which will be parked around the Square.
• Electricity is not available. You will need a generator to light-up your display.
• Displays should be set up by 5:30 p.m.  Vehicles not part of the lighted display should be moved off the square by 5:30 p.m. as well.
• You may also hand out candy to kids, host a child-friendly activity, or serve hot chocolate or a yummy treat. Be sure to promote your business with promotional material or item.

This Saturday, October 19, is Homecoming at Simpson College. And we have some pretty big news to share! Please join us at 10:45 in the Hillman Hall parking lot (east of the stadium), as we make an exciting announcement about what’s new and what’s next for Simpson College. Interact with students, faculty, staff and trustees, as we celebrate! Please stay for kickoff, as the Simpson STORM take on Wartburg at 1 p.m.

The ribbon-cutting will open a new season of Indoor Play Date on October 23. This is the 15th year the organization has offered the playground for Indianola families with young children. 

Peoples Bank will sponsor the program, allowing families to attend at no charge.  The playground is offered on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. - noon for little ones age one through pre-Kindergarten along with their supervising adult. Riding toys, play equipment and inflatables are provided. 

The season runs through mid-March, 2020, with a few days off for the holidays.  The playground is also closed on days that Indianola schools are closed or delayed due to bad weather.
