Gain Business Insights with Common Ground Blog

Sinikka Waugh, in her latest blog, lists Three things business analysis and project management have in common, and what should be done about it.

Without our customers, we can't survive
  • Business Analysis includes understanding the customer needs and keeping those in mind in the pursuit of delivering value.
  • Project Management includes making sure that the expectations are set and met, including those of the customer.
  • Whether you’re using a traditional waterfall approach, an Agile approach, or something in between, the customer is still the end consumer of what we deliver.
  • Collaboration is better than isolation.
Project Management includes communication management, stakeholder management, and human resources management - all activities that cannot be done without human interaction of some sort.

Are you open? Serving customers? Give us the Details. We'll spread the news!

We know there is pent-up demand to move forward with our new normal – and that means customers are ready to start getting out and spending their money with our local business.

We want to make it easy for customers to know who is open for business. They also need to know what has changed about how they will be doing business with you.

This image is pinned to the top of Indianola Chamber on Facebook. When you, and other local businesses, add information to the string of comments, it will be easy for customers to know when, where and how they can #ThinkIndianolaFirst!

Are you open for dine-in or carry-out? Are you taking appointments for hair care? Can people shop and pay online and then pick it up, or have it shipped or delivered? Have your hours changed? Are you available by appointment? Are you following physical distancing guidelines? Requiring masks? Are you doing additional cleaning to protect your employees and customers?

Whatever it is, add it in the comments on indianolachamber.com under this post.

Then join us in sharing this valuable information by directing your peeps to indianolachamber.com.

This is an important time for us to work together to rebuild our local economy.

Important Notice from Fire Chief Chia

05-21-2020
Indianola Business Owners and Occupants of Public Buildings

As the state begins to relax its restrictions to reopen the business community through a phased approach, the Indianola community needs to remember, based on current levels of transmission and healthcare capacity at the state and local level, to follow all code requirements. Business operations are given guidance through the CDC, IDPH and the Governor’s office as what to achieve to provide the necessary social distancing and safe practices to limit the level of disease transmission. When resuming business operations decisions should be based on limiting the level of disease transmission and decreasing the impact of COVID-19 in your workplace.

Keeping that in mind, the community and your readiness to protect the safety and health of your employees and customers, please do not overlook the original safety guidelines in-place prior to the disaster declaration such as the International Fire Code and International Building Code.

While trying to provide the necessary social distancing prescribed, you still need to comply with International Fire Code on “Means of Egress”. The Indianola Fire Department has received information that some businesses have adopted procedures to lock egress doors in an attempt to limit occupants in their businesses during daily operations. This action is a violation of the adopted International Fire Code and International Building Code. If you have doors that are dead-bolt or key turn-lock they must remain unlocked during normal business operations.

We appreciate your attention in this matter of compliance and safety.

If you have questions on this subject, please contact the Indianola Fire Department at
515-961-9405.
Respectfully,
Gregory M. Chia Fire Chief

Christian Business Conference - Virtual on June 5

No Charge to attend. Registration Required.

Christian Business Conference -
With positive and encouraging messages of faith at work, sessions targeted for people-leaders as well as individual contributors, and an ending keynote that inspires a call to action, Your Clear Next Step seeks to bring Christ-followers an opportunity to gather together virtually in fellowship. We will celebrate God’s goodness and seek ways to serve Him more intentionally and share His abundant love with others more purposefully at work, with the hope of giving Him all the glory and drawing others to His saving grace. The conference runs from 10-2:30 on the first Friday in June and includes learning, application, and opportunities for fellowship.  We are excited that this has become an annual conference to help continue to strengthen and encourage fellow believers at work and to continue to shine God’s light in our day-to-day workplaces.
