Currently the care focus of Santa Teresita is on those often forgotten, and vulnerable in our society, the elderly. In both assisted living and skilled nursing units nearly 200 residents are loved and cared for in an environment that strives to maintain the optimal functioning and quality of life. With a Child Care Center on the campus there are also unforgettable ‘intergenerational’ experiences for all.
Excitement is building within and around Santa Teresita because the facility is currently modifying the traditional ‘medical model’ of care delivery of eldercare to the innovative “Eden Alternative ™” model. When the transition is completed, Santa Teresita will be the only facility in Los Angeles to follow this ground-breaking and exciting approach which aims at creating a ‘home away from home’.
Briefly, the Eden Alternative philosophy is based on the core belief that aging is a continued stage of growth and development in the human lifespan, not a period of decline. Every part of this program enhances and promotes the dignity and quality of life for the residents and their families.
