Amid a global pandemic and a pivotal presidential election year, founder Candace Morrison recognized the pressing need for unity and access to fresh, local produce within the Junction community. Through tireless efforts, Candace petitioned the City Council, paving the way for the market's inauguration with six charmingly small vendors, including her very own Candace's Coffee Trailer and The Honey Bean Coffee and Tea Company. That iconic red trailer remains a steadfast fixture, witnessing the market's growth from six to fifteen vendors by the close of the inaugural year.
The year 2021 marked an impressive transition, blossoming from a single event and fifteen vendors to four events and over seventy-five registered vendors, with thirty consistent spots showcasing their offerings at the market. It was a year of significant milestones, including the establishment of a $4,000 scholarship for a deserving Junction student, a successful blood drive, lively parades, numerous live music events, and Saturday mornings that painted the town with unrivaled beauty.
As we charge headlong into the 2023 season, we proudly announce a new phase of market expansion. During the off-season preceding the launch of the 2022 season, the market introduced this website (you're here!), an informative newsletter (be sure to sign up!), and two complimentary draft beer events, bringing the total to six vibrant occasions. Additionally, we are honored to have received a grant to operate a SNAP food stamp program, furthering our commitment to accessible and inclusive community offerings.
In our fourth year, we are thrilled to unveil our move to an even more central location: The Kimble County Courthouse Lawn, ensuring an even more accessible and inviting experience for all.
