Board of Directors for the AV Chambers of Commerce:
The Antelope Valley Chambers of Commerce is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is made up of twenty-one directors each serving a three year term. Each year one third of the Board is selected by a nominating committee. The nominating committee recommends a slate of candidates to the Board of Directors for acceptance.
Upon receipt of the report from the nominating committee, the Chairman shall, no later than fifteen (15) days following receipt of the written report of the nominating committee, have the list of nominees along with the procedures for nomination by petition provided to the membership.
Nominations by Petition: Additional names of candidates for Directors can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least fifteen (15) qualified members of the Chamber. Such petition shall be filed with the nominating committee within ten (10) days after notice of the names of those nominated has been provided. The determination of the nominating committee as to the legality of the petition(s) shall be final.
Elections: If no petition is filed within the designated period, the nominations shall be closed and the nominated slate of candidates shall be declared elected by the Board of Directors at their next regularly scheduled meeting. If a legal petition is filed within ten (10) days after close of nominations by petition, the President/CEO shall publish a ballot containing names of all of the candidates. Candidates named shall appear on the ballot in order as drawn by lot, by the nominating committee. Voting shall be by secret ballot. Ballot mailing shall include a clear, concise statement of voting instruction, date, place and time of poll closing. Each ballot shall be mailed (emailed) to each member at the address of record at the Chamber.
