Sponsor Click photo for more details Article of the Month - California Minimum Wage In 2022, the minimum wage for the state of California increased to $14.00 per hour, this is $6.75 higher than the federal minimum wage, which is almost as much as the federal wage itself, the latest increase moved the California minimum wage to the highest wage out of all 50 states. Since 2016, California’s minimum wage has been consistently increasing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of between 4-9%. It increased considerably from 2019 to 2022. The minimum wage in California is a little different from most states, as the wage differs depending on the size of the business you are employed by. On January 1, 2022, the minimum wage for those working at companies with 25 employees or less increased from $13.00 per hour to $14.00 per hour, and for companies that have 26 employees or more, the minimum wage rate increased from $14.00 in 2021 to $15.00 per hour in 2022. California’s unique minimum wage rule was first implemented in 2017 and will continue to be in place for the foreseeable future.
