Welcome to Copperfield's Books, your premier full-service community bookstore nestled in the heart of the picturesque Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing, located at 2419 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, CA 94939. Founded on a visionary commitment to fostering a truly community-based bookstore, Copperfield's Books emerged from the dedicated efforts of owners Paul Jaffe and Barney Brown. The journey began in 1981 when they acquired Sebastopol's Myst Bookstore, transforming it into Copperfield's Books and establishing a warm literary haven spanning 725 square feet. Since those humble beginnings, Copperfield's has grown to become a beloved destination for book enthusiasts across Sonoma County.
Our story unfolds through a tapestry of expansions, mirroring our enduring dedication to literature, education, and community engagement. By 1983, our Sebastopol store had found a permanent home in the historic Analy Five & Dime building, and a second location opened its doors in Montgomery Village, Santa Rosa. Over the years, Copperfield's has flourished, spreading its literary influence with additional stores in Petaluma, Napa, Calistoga, and Healdsburg. In 2013, we ventured into Marin County, inaugurating our San Rafael store, followed by Novato in 2016, and our most recent addition, the Larkspur store in November 2018.
Remaining true to our roots as a local independent bookseller, Copperfield's is deeply committed to nurturing the communities we serve. From engaging author events to dynamic book clubs and lively book fairs, we have carved a niche as vibrant gathering spaces offering cozy surroundings for bibliophiles. Our knowledgeable and passionate booksellers stand ready to go the extra mile, ensuring every customer finds precisely what they seek.
