Director's Corner

Hello Members,
Yes, it has slowed down a bit here in town, even at the normally bustling visitor center.  The Chamber is working on a few events though that are intended to bring some folks into town during these slower periods.

As described below, we have the upcoming Halloween Cemetery Tours during the weekend of October 25-26.  Attendance for this event (there are multiple tours) should approach 100 or more for the weekend, and with probably 75% of the attendees coming from out of the County and many spending the night, this is good revenue coming in.  These tours are good compliments to the other Halloween events in town and should provide a great experience for all involved.

The other events taking shape are the Light the Lights event and the Parade of Lights which will take place over the two weekends after Thanksgiving and kick off the Leadville holiday season.  We hope to build from last year's Parade of Lights success (and snow!) and get the word out to a wider audience to let them know that Leadville and Lake County are great places to visit during the holidays.

The Chamber will continue to work at developing more ideas that can attract visitors to Leadville during the slower months of the year.  As a Chamber member and a member of this community, your ideas are highly valued and we would like to hear them.  Don't hold back...there are no crazy ideas, because you just never know when that next idea becomes something that blossoms into a a future revenue producer that helps Lake County businesses make it from one month or one season to the next.

Thank you for being a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and please continue to take an active role in shaping the future of our businesses and community.

Halloween Business After Hours! Thurdsday, Oct 24th at Centennial Real Estate

Get out that costume and plan on attending the next Business After Hours which will be hosted by Centennial Real Estate, located at 1020 Poplar Street.

It will be Thursday, October 24th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.   Carol Glenn and the great staff at Centennial will be hosting the annual Halloween oriented B.A.H.  There will, of course, be a Halloween Costume Contest, and although costumes are not required, they are recommended if you want a shot at a great prize for the best costume!

So please plan on attending and joining your fellow Chamber members and their guests for an evening of networking, socializing, and spooking.  If you will be attending, please RSVP to the Chamber at 719-486-3900 or leadville@leadvilleusa.com .

Check out the attached flyer, and we'll see you there!
