National Road Heritage Cooridor

National Road (Old Route 40) a National Heritage Corridor.

Old Route 40 extends through Clark County and has significant historical resources. The Clark County Tourism Board has investigated this possibility for two years.

Lake Land College’s GIS Department has compiled a large amount of historical and economic data that they are excited to share. The stretch of Old Route 40 through Clark County was highlighted in a National Park Service Special Resource Study.

In this report, dated July of 1994, it stated, “The National Road corridor meets the criteria of national significance, suitability, and feasibility, and it merits further study.”
