About Us

City Of Antelope

Welcome to Antelope, Oregon! As we embark on the journey of rebuilding our website, we appreciate your patience and understanding. Our small and tranquil residential city, nestled amidst the scenic ranches of Southern Wasco County, invites you to explore the charm and serenity that define life in Antelope. Established in 1896 and subsequently re-incorporated in 1901 under the laws of the State of Oregon, the City of Antelope has a rich history that continues to shape our community today.

Governed by a non-partisan elected Mayor and four dedicated City Councilors, all of whom serve as unpaid volunteers, Antelope prides itself on its grassroots governance model. Our civic affairs find a home at the Antelope Community Center, which serves as the backdrop for council meetings and various public gatherings. Barbara Beasley, our City Recorder, and Cody Flecker, overseeing the Water Department, are integral members of our community, diligently working to ensure the smooth functioning of essential municipal services.

Antelope is not just a place; it's a community that cares. The City of Antelope maintains crucial infrastructure, including a municipal water system, city streets, and street lights. In addition, we collaborate with private service providers to offer telecommunication and internet services, fostering connectivity in our tight-knit city. The Antelope Community Center, a historic landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, stands as a testament to our commitment to preserving our heritage.

As part of the Wasco County landscape, Antelope is supported by essential governmental services. Law enforcement is provided by the Wasco County Sheriff in The Dalles, while emergency medical services are overseen by the Jefferson County EMS District offices in Madras. Antelope's educational landscape is shaped by its inclusion in the Jefferson County School District 509-J, Columbia Gorge Community College District, and the Wasco Electric Cooperative.

We invite you to explore Antelope further, discover the warmth of our community, and experience the genuine hospitality that defines life in our city. Please excuse the temporary inconveniences as we work on enhancing your online experience, and do return to explore the myriad facets of Antelope, Oregon.
