Brevard Achievement Center Earns CIMS-GB with Honors Certification for Excellence in Custodial Services

Brevard Achievement Center (BAC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides innovative services and programs to assist people with disabilities achieve personal success, is pleased to announce that the agency has earned Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) and CIMS Green Building with Honors (CIMS-GB with Honors) certification for its excellence in custodial services operations from ISSA – the Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association. CIMS is the first consensus-based management standard that outlines the primary characteristics of a successful, quality cleaning organization.

The rigorous process to achieve certification began two years ago with training and culminated with a comprehensive, on-site assessment by an independent, ISSA-accredited assessor. Based on the final assessment report, ISSA determined that BAC’s existing quality measurements and green-cleaning standards demonstrated a commitment to the delivery of environmentally preferable services to meet customer needs and expectations, thus earning the agency CIMS-GB with Honors certification. This designation also gives BAC the capability to provide green cleaning services that will assist customers in achieving points under the LEED-Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED-EBOM) Green Building Rating System.

To learn more about BAC’s customized business services, contact Guy Klenke, business development manager, at gklenke@bacbrevard.com or (321) 632-8610, ext. 261. Or visit bacbrevard.com.

Building Named in Honor of Community Benefactor
The Children’s Hunger Project officially named its new building in Cocoa after a man that contributed so much to the betterment of the Brevard County community.  The building is now The Bruce Nelson Child Hunger Center.

Bob Barnes, Executive Director of the local charity said, “It is with deepest appreciation to the Bruce Nelson family that we dedicate our building to the memory of the husband and father that showed the way for his entire family to continue their quest to improve our community.”

The Nelson family (most will know Bruce Nelson, Jr. and sister, Tracy, because of radio and TV commercials), has been a strong supporter of The Children’s Hunger Project and Candlelighters of Brevard.  The building named for their father, Bruce Nelson Sr., was recently offered to The Children’s Hunger Project at no cost by the Nelson family so that the charity could expand its program of providing weekend food packages to elementary school age kids in Brevard County.
