How to Acquire an Intern
Ask 10 different people how to acquire an intern, and you may get 10 completely different answers. One thing we all agree on, however, is the importance of training future employees in a hands-on environment, and the value of a structured internship program in developing a strong and effective workforce.

On August 27th, at the SCTC Morning TechTalk, our Education Committee will be hosting a panel event to showcase some existing internship programs of local educational institutions.

The panel will include:
• A Moderator from a local College/University
• A Brevard Public Schools Representative
• A Small Business, currently using Interns from College/High School
• A Mid/Large Business currently using Interns from College/High School
• An HR person who knows the laws, policies and regulations for acquiring paid/non paid interns.
Come and learn the right way to acquire an intern!

SCTC Members - $5.00
Guests - $10.00

RIBBON CUTTING EVENT - 5K Run/Walk for F.A.R.M. Food Allergy Resources & Mentoring
Saturday, 7:30 AM, ribbon cutting at 8:00AM
Ritch Grissam Memorial Wetlands, 10001 B. Wickham Rd., Viera, FL 32940

The F.A.R.M. 5K is scheduled for August 15, 2015 at Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands in Viera.  The 5K course is run on the senic, well maintained dirt trail through the wetlands. Proceeds from the race will support Food Allergy Resources & Mentoring (F.A.R.M.).  F.A.R.M.'s mission is to increase public awareness of the growing food allergy epidemic and to provide a voice for those who live with food allergies.  Today, 1 in 13 children suffer with food allergies.  That's roughly two in every classroom.  Through F.A.R.M.'s outreach and community events, they provide sociallyinclusive atmospheres that foster frienship and community support to those who suffer in isolation. F.A.R.M. was founded in 2014 by two parents with a child who suffers with life threatening milk allergy.  It is through their personal journey that theyare able to see and fill the void in community support for food allergies.
