The Supply Zone Volunteer Guild Hosts its First Meeting
The Supply Zone Volunteer Guild will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, February 17th at the Supply Zone for Teachers located in Clearlake Education Center.  The Supply Zone has given 22,195 books to hundreds of teachers, classrooms and students since its doors opened in 2014. The Volunteer Guild is a club that provides volunteer support to the Supply Zone and it growing library. Club members will meet on the third Wednesday of each month from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Brevard Schools Foundation is the nonprofit, direct-support organization for Brevard Public Schools. The Supply Zone for Teachers is a resource center that distributes free school supplies to teachers and students at high poverty schools. This free “store” is stocked entirely through donations and staffed predominantly by volunteers.

Welsh Companies constructs Westlake Center Complex and Animal Hospital
Welsh Companies of Melbourne recently completed the Westlake Center Complex and Animal Hospital on an 8.4 acre site in Sanford.
 
The multiple structure project included a:  6,000 square foot retail/office building, 44,000 square feet of self- storage buildings, 20,000 square foot concrete pads for future storage buildings and, 6,000 square foot West Lake Animal Center.  
 
The Welsh Companies, formed in 2003, provides commercial construction and development services in the, office, medical, warehousing, religious, retail and municipal sectors to the east central area of Florida.

Jessica Lynn Clinton, a beautiful young cheerleader died because she had a previously undiagnosed heart condition and her high school did not have an automated external defibrillator to jump start her heart when it stopped beating. Salvation Army of Melbourne's Fore-Kids-2-Kamp Golf Tournament
The Salvation Army's Fore-Kids-2-Kamp Golf Tournament will be held March 11 at Baytree National Golf Course. Check-in starts at 12:00 P.M., with a Shotgun Start at 1:00 P.M.

A four member team is $300, $75 per single golfer. This includes green fees, prizes and dinner. Hole sponsorships are available.

Mangroves in need of “foster parents”
In the coming months, Brevard Zoo, in partnership with Florida Department of Environmental Protection Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserves and Marine Discovery Center, will host several Adopt-A-Mangrove workshops to engage locals in conservation of the Indian River Lagoon.

Participants will receive tips to care for their “baby” mangrove, which will be taken home and eventually replanted along the Lagoon. The group will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Zoo’s 19,000-gallon aquarium, which houses many mangrove-dependent fish.
The workshops, which are free to the public, will be held at the Zoo on March 22, April 27, May 26 and June 27 from 6-7 p.m. An additional workshop will take place at Marine Discovery Center in New Smyrna Beach on March 12.
