West Melbourne Family is Grateful to CPA
Ken Whittaker rescues dog from traffic in a rainstorm; staff reunites pet with family by nightfall

Biscuit is afraid of thunder.  When a storm began early on March 25th, the 12-year old Labrador/retriever mix tried to escape the terrifying noise by diving under the fence of his West Melbourne backyard.  In an instant, Biscuit was on the loose and running, his collar and tags left behind on the fence.  The McCleary family, Mark and Brenda, along with their two young sons, searched the neighborhood and talked to neighbors for clues of Biscuit's whereabouts, posting a photo and description on www.BrevardLostPets.com.  What happened next, will forever connect Biscuit with the staff of Whittaker Cooper Financial Group:  Around 4:00 PM, CPA Ken Whittaker was returning to his office when he spotted the muddy and disoriented dog approaching cars in traffic near the intersection of Evans Road and Hibiscus Boulevard.  Fearful the dog would be hit, he pulled his Toyota 4Runner alongside the dog, opening the door in the rainstorm.  Quickly realizing the old dog could not jump into the truck, Whittaker, in a business suit, got out and lifted the dog onto the seat and headed for the office.  When the traumatized and rain-soaked dog couldn't be coaxed out of the truck, Whittaker wrapped the dog in a towel and carried him into the office. Staffers rubbed him dry and scoured the location for appropriate treats. While he rested, they took to the web.  A reply to a Facebook post by Dawn Bradford recommended they try www.BrevardLostPets.com. As the office prepared to close for the day, Receptionist Sydney Norris took their temporary ward to a local veterinarian to have him scanned for a possible identifying microchip.  No chip was found, but back at the office, Dawn Bradford had found a missing dog report on the website that looked like a good match.  She called Ms. Norris and asked her to try the name, "Biscuit."  The two women were overjoyed at the pooch's immediate response to his name.  Dawn called the McCleary's number and Biscuit was reunited with his family later that evening.  For more information, call 321-723-3352 or visit http://raymondjames.com/whittakercooper/.
