'Feeding Friends & Neighbors' For 30 Years
Sheriff Wayne Ivey keynotes Florida casual gala to benefit most vulnerable

"Give us this day, our daily bread."  For Christians, the words delivered by Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount are a reminder of human physical needs that must be met for sustaining life. The Daily Bread, located at 815 E. Fee Avenue in Melbourne is keenly aware of this: for 30 years, the 501(c)(3) organization has been feeding the homeless, the working poor, the elderly and displaced families of South Brevard.  On October 1 at 6 PM, supporters will gather at the Fee Avenue location for the "Florida casual" Feeding Friends & Neighbors event to benefit the Daily Bread, with a keynote address by Sheriff Wayne Ivey.   Among the evening's highlights are a cocktail hour, buffet dinner prepared on-site, silent auction, balloon raffle and games.  Music and entertainment will be provided by radio personality, Timmy Vee.  Tickets are available for a $100 (tax deductible) donation per person, with business and faith community sponsorships welcome.  Daily Bread, Inc. with a stated objective of "Food for Human Dignity," operates with an army of 542 persons, contributing an average of 5500 volunteer hours per month.  For more information about Feeding Friends & Neighbors or Daily Bread Inc., visit www.DailyBreadInc.org or call (321) 723-1060.

FPL installs 500,000th new solar panel - halfway to 1 million total planned by year's end
Panels to make up three new solar power plants, which will be among the largest in the southeastern U.S. when they enter service later this year

Florida Power & Light Company, which is the largest generator of solar power in Florida, today announced that it has completed the installation of half of the 1 million new solar panels it plans to add by the end of this year to power its customers.

The panels will comprise three new solar energy centers, each of which will provide 74.5 megawatts of generating capacity, making them among the very largest solar facilities in the eastern U.S.

"We're tripling the amount of solar energy we generate for our customers this year, and we plan to continue adding more cost-effective solar in the future," said Eric Silagy, FPL president and CEO. "Laid end to end, the 1 million solar panels would just about wrap around the entire coastline of Florida, or put another way, would extend from Florida to Chicago. Today, we're halfway there. Undeniably, Florida's clean energy landscape is bright, and we're proud to continue leading the advancement of affordable clean solar energy for our customers."
