League of Women Voters of the Space Coast Hosts Timely Topics Luncheon
CLEAN ENERGY AND LAGOON RESTORATION
Why "NO" on Amendment 1 and "YES" on Lagoon Tax Referendum
The League of Women Voters of the Space Coast will hold a Timely Topics Luncheon to educate on two issues that will be on our ballot this November. The event will be held on Friday, October 7th at the Suntree Country Club, 1 Country Club Drive, Melbourne at 11:30 a.m.
Cost is $22. RSVP to Doreen Archer at 321-622-4071 or darcher14@cfl.rr.com by September 30th with name, phone number and choice of entrée - London Broil, Strawberry Salmon, or Pasta Primavera. Critically endangered pigs born at Brevard Zoo
On Saturday, September 10, 14-year-old Visayan warty pig Fancy gave birth to two piglets. The sexes are unknown at this time. Fancy was born at San Diego Zoo but has spent most of her life at Brevard Zoo. In 2008, she gave birth to three piglets. Fancy currently shares her exhibit with two adult pigs: male Pandan and female Makinna. Pandan is the piglets’ father.
Because the Australasia section of the Zoo is closed until next year for renovations, guests will not be able to view the piglets for several months. However, the Zoo promises to keep its fans updated with plenty of pictures and videos on social media.

Business Voice Political Committee Announces Endorsement
of Mayfield and Foster and Support of the ½ Cent Sales Tax to Fund Save Our Lagoon Plan
The Business Voice Political Committee Board of Directors met after the August Primary and voted to support Debbie Mayfield, Republican for State Senate, and Randy Foster, Democrat for County Commission District 3, in the General Election. The group also voted to support the 1/2 cent Sales Tax to fund the Save Our Lagoon Plan.
