Brevard County Overwhelmingly Supports Pro-Business Candidates in 2016
The Business Voice Political Committee Board of Directors is pleased the voters of Brevard County overwhelming elected pro-business candidates for critical local and state offices.  Eight of the nine candidates the group endorsed in the General Election were victorious.  The group also celebrated passage of the 1/2 cent Sales Tax to fund the Save Our Lagoon Plan, which they supported as a critical need for our local economy.

“Voters in Brevard County understand that local government must help and not hinder local job creators,” states Kathryn Rudloff, Executive Director for the group. “We look forward to working with the outstanding group of incoming leaders to ensure Brevard remains a great place to live, work and do business.”

Canada’s NewLeaf chooses MLB for Orlando Area Flights
Travel Company’s U.S. Entry includes Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB)

Canada’s fastest growing ultra low-cost travel company, NewLeaf, announced today that it will begin affordable nonstop flights from the Toronto area (YHM) to Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) on January 15, 2017.  This is the second Canada-based airline to choose MLB for its ease of entry and proximity to one of the world’s largest cruise ports, sparkling beaches and world-class theme parks such as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Florida and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.  It is the travel company’s first entry into the United States, adding both Florida and Arizona destinations for its inaugural international season.

The flights will run through to the end of April, with a possible schedule extension to year-long service. Canada is Florida’s top tourism market and MLB is fast becoming the alternative airport of choice to experience all that Florida has to offer Canadian travelers.

“We’re delighted to welcome NewLeaf and its enthusiastic Canadian budget-minded passengers,” said Greg Donovan, AAE, executive director of Orlando Melbourne International Airport.

Protect Your Business – and Yourself – from Scams and Fraud
This November, Florida Power & Light Company joined dozens of utilities nationwide for “Utilities United Against Scams,” a campaign to educate consumers about how to protect themselves against scams and fraud.

Scammers continue to find new ways to target not only FPL customers, but companies across all industries nationwide. The first step to protecting yourself and your business is to recognize suspicious activity. This can take many forms, such as:
  • Someone pretending to be an employee or contractor to gain access to your home or business;
  • A company claiming to be your provider, or associated with them, that solicits your personal information or offers to sell you products and services over the phone or through the mail; and
  • Emails, websites or mobile apps that appear to be from your provider and require you to submit personal information or make a payment.
Don’t fall victim to scams or fraud. Learn how to keep yourself, your family and your business secure at FPL.com/protect.
