Registration now open for Zoo summer camps

Summer is still a few months away, but parents can already begin to fill children’s summer schedules by registering them for camps at Brevard Zoo.

“It’s always a fun atmosphere,” said education curator, Janelle Cummins. “Everyone gets excited about summer camps. The kids get to be outdoors, meet lots of animals, go behind the scenes and make friends. It’s a great hands-on educational experience while school is out.”

From May 30 to August 4, the Zoo is offering a variety of half-day and full-day camps for children entering kindergarten through ninth grade. Topics encompass animal adaptations, zookeeping and the many roles zoos play in their communities. Art camps in June and July are sponsored in part by the Brevard County Community Cultural Grant program through Brevard Cultural Alliance.

An early bird discount will be applied for campers who register before Saturday, April 15. Additional discounts for some camps are available to Zoo members. Registration and more information is available at www.brevardzoo.org/zoocamps.

Citizens for Space Exploration needs YOU!

With a new President in the White House and 63 new Members of Congress, there is still uncertainty about our nation’s long-term commitment to a program of national space exploration leadership.  Citizens for Space Exploration is the national, grassroots organization that goes to Washington, D.C. each year to meet with Congress to promote bi-partisan support for NASA’s space program.  There’s a lot at stake for the U.S. and Space Coast Florida/KSC to build on the tremendous progress made thus far in both government and commercial space efforts that will ultimately lead humans on missions to Mars.

Citizens for Space Exploration will visit Washington, D.C. this year (May 23-25)  in support of space exploration.
