Non-Perishable Food Drive for 2nd Harvest Food Bank
Launch Federal Credit Union is collecting non-perishable food items for the WESH Channel 2 “Share Your Christmas” food drive at all of its branch locations. Donations are being accepted now through November 30th, with all food donations benefiting 2nd Harvest Food Bank.
Dinosaurs delivered to Brevard Zoo
More than a dozen lifelike, life-sized animatronic dinosaurs recently arrived at Brevard Zoo. The dino-sized delivery, which involved three semi trucks, was made ahead of the November 18 opening of Dinosaurs Are Back! (www.dinosareback.com), a temporary Zoo exhibit.
MPD’s Melinda Bishop Receives Crimeline’s Outstanding Law Enforcement Participation Award
Crimeline Central Florida has awarded Melinda Bishop, Melbourne Police Department’s administrative assistant for investigations, the Outstanding Law Enforcement Participation Award for her exemplary job in partnering with and reporting to Crimeline.
Melinda plays a critical behind-the-scenes role at the MPD by monitoring and tracking the electronic receipt of all tips, including those received from Crimeline. She receives, reviews and analyzes up to 90 tips per week on average, making sure each gets to the appropriate unit at the MPD. Once an investigation is complete, she gets the results back to Crimeline.

City Seeking Volunteers to Serve on New Beautification and Energy Efficiency Board
The City of Melbourne is accepting applications through November 30 for the newly formed Beautification and Energy Efficiency Board.
Once appointed, the seven-member board (five regular members and two alternate members) will make recommendations to the City Council concerning affordable strategies associated with conservation, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. The board will be charged with developing an environmental sustainability plan relating to city operations with a goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2035. On an as-needed basis, the board will review ordinances and policies that have an environmental impact on the city. Additional initiatives of the board may include recommending to the public affordable strategies associated with conservation, renewable energy, and energy efficiency; and recognizing efforts of those who contribute to the beautification, environmental protection, and enhancement of city.

Seven Florida Tech Alumni Recognized with Awards
Outstanding Grads Honored at Nov. 4 Homecoming Gala
From business to aviation, from IBM to KPMG, from Atlanta to Madrid, seven successful alumni of Florida Institute of Technology were celebrated Nov. 4 at the university’s Homecoming Gala and Awards Ceremony.
Graduates from each of Florida Tech’s five colleges and an international representative were recognized with Outstanding Alumni awards. A seventh alumnus received the night’s top honor, the Jerome P. Keuper Distinguished Alumni Award.
