Soy Candles and a variety of Doggie Treat Flavors and sizes for your holiday gift-giving.

The Doggie Treats come in 3 yummy flavors: Peanut Butter, Pumpkin, Fresh Breath or an Assortment of all 3.  They are packaged in 5 oz. bags for $5.00 and come in Small or Large-sized treats (for smaller or larger doggies).

The 16 oz Soy Candles are made at Promise Treasures Thrift Shoppe for $10.00 each and last about 60 hours. They are being offered for sale to individuals, businesses and organizations who would like to personalize each candle jar with one of 6 Holiday sticker choices with their business or organization name.  Orders need to be placed by Dec. 1st and there’s a 50% deposit required at time of order.

City Seeking Citizens to Serve on Housing Authority Board

The City of Melbourne is currently recruiting interested citizens to serve on Melbourne Housing Authority board. The Melbourne Housing Authority is responsible for the acquisition, lease, construction, reconstruction, improvements and operations of federally funded housing projects within the City. Applicants must be registered to vote and live within the City of Melbourne. The board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:15 a.m. in the South Area Housing Administrative Office at 1401 Guava Avenue.

Volunteer board members provide vital input to the Melbourne City Council on important local issues and have the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to their community. For more information, download an application or contact the City Clerk’s office at city.clerk@mlbfl.org or 321-608-7220.

City of Melbourne Will Provide Dumpsters to Help With Neighborhood Clean-up, Nov. 8 - Dec. 7

On November 8, the City of Melbourne will be temporarily placing dumpsters at the Joseph N. Davis Community Center (2547 Grant Street) that residents may use to dispose of large items, such as damaged fencing, furniture and old tires. The dumpsters will be available for use until December 7.

The City is providing the dumpsters in response to numerous complaints about dumping along the side of the roadways in south Melbourne’s neighborhoods and to offer local residents a convenient way to dispose of large items that are not picked up as part of their regular waste collection service.

The dumpsters are intended for bulk items like pressure-treated wood, furniture or other large items that residents would otherwise need to transport to the Cocoa landfill. One dumpster will be set aside exclusively for tires and the other may be used for any other large item except for yard debris. (Waste Management collects yard debris as part of its regular service.)

The dumpsters are for use by City of Melbourne residents only; no contractors may use these dumpsters.

For more information, please call City of Melbourne Code Compliance Division at (321) 608-7920.
