Kemper Business Systems hosts 2020 Grand Opening on February 13

Friday, Feb. 28: Winter Musical Showcase & Piano Dedication featuring special guest, Dr. James Miltenberger
Holy Trinity will dedicate its new 9-foot Baldwin SD10 concert grand piano with a performance by special guest, world-renowned pianist, Dr. James Miltenberger. Dr. Miltenberger was educated at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and the Eastman School of Music. He is a Professor Emeritus at West Virginia University where he taught piano, jazz piano and piano literature. Dr. Miltenberger has performed throughout the United States, Western Europe and Southeast Asia as a solo pianist, as a collaborative pianist, and with a variety of jazz groups. He recently recorded with his jazz ensemble a compact disc entitled “The Intersection of Classical and Jazz Music.”
Upper School musical ensembles (band, chorus, strings and percussion) also will present musical selections they will take to competition at the Musical Performance Assessments (MPAs) in March.

Brevard Zoo sending aid to Australian wildlife organizations
Brevard Zoo is sending $1,000 each to five conservation organizations responding to the bushfire crisis that has devastated Australia. The donations come from the Zoo’s Wildlife Emergency Fund (WEF), a program focused on providing emergency support to address urgent threats to wildlife.

City of Melbourne 2020 Arbor Day celebration
The City of Melbourne held it’s 2020 Arbor Day Celebration on January 17, 2020 at the Eau Gallie Square Park.
Mayor Kathy Meehan and City Councilwoman Yvonne Minus District 3 were present. Mayor Meehan read the Arbor Day Proclamation. Terry Laplante of Trees For Life Brevard was the special guest speaker, educating the crowd on the importance of trees.
Students from the Verdi EcoSchool assisted in planting the tree with staff from Melbourne Parks and the City of Melbourne Police. The students sang a special song and participated in creating their own trail mix snack/craft provided by Lucy’s In The Kitchen. 75 seedlings were given away for planting. The planted tree and seedlings were donated by Willy Willem, owner of Top Quality Trees. The Melbourne Garden Club was on hand to give out information and answer questions.
Special thanks to all who participated in helping celebrate Arbor Day and Melbourne’s Tree City Designation.
Local humanitarian’s clean water initiative for children in Kenya and Uganda collaborates with Knights of Malta of Romania
Marty L Ward, Founder of Confidence Builds Success Academy, Inc 501c3 (CBSA), who was featured in the Huffington Post, says, “CBSA’s mission is to Make bullying obsolete and civility a way of life around the world. Our vision is to provide communities with the knowledge to create harmonious relationships and access to clean water for healthy minds and bodies.”
Right now, Marty needs 19 more water filters to reach her goal of bringing 48 additional water filters to Kenya and Uganda this March to provide access to 300 gallons of clean water a day for 10 years to approximately 21,600 more children. She also will be training 100s of teachers, pastors, parents and grandparents in the TAG 4 Change Method.

Downtown Melbourne Public Valet Parking Service
The City of Melbourne will begin offering a public valet parking service in Downtown Melbourne beginning January 17.
- Valet service will be available Friday and Saturday evenings starting around 5 p.m.
- The valet stand will be located at the southeast corner of Waverly Place and New Haven Avenue.
- Rates will be $10; however, downtown businesses may choose to participate in a validation program.
Free public parking is available at the following locations in Downtown Melbourne:
- Parking garage and parking lot next to City Hall, west of the railroad tracks on Strawbridge Avenue.
- Parking lot on Strawbridge Avenue east of City Hall on the east side of the railroad tracks.
- Parking lot on New Haven Avenue along the east side of the railroad tracks at Depot Avenue.
- Parking lot between New Haven Avenue and Melbourne Avenue east of Depot Avenue.
- Parking lot on Vernon Place, south of New Haven Avenue.
- Parking lot in front of the Henegar Center across the street from the Post Office on New Haven Avenue east of McQuaid Street and west of Livingston Street.
On-street parking is also available along New Haven Avenue, on intersecting side streets and on the streets around City Hall.
In 2020, an additional 175 public parking spaces will become available south of the Henegar Center.
