Swing for Charity Golf Tournament
The GFWC Viera Woman’s Club, Inc. has been a member of the Melbourne Regional Chamber for years as a non-profit business. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and our motto is "Living the Volunteer Spirit”. However, we do have one major fundraiser each year seeking sponsorships from community businesses. This year we will be hosting The Swing for Charity golf tournament at Duran Golf Club on Friday, Oct. 30th 2020. The fundraiser will benefit charities such as: Brevard Achievement Center’s Color in Motion, The Children’s Hunger Project, National Veterans Homeless Support, Help Me Grow Brevard, and The Sea Turtle Preservation Society, to name a few. Goodwill Hosts Free Webinars for Job Seekers
Throughout the month of August, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida will host a free webinar series for local job seekers. An extension of the nonprofit’s job connection services, the virtual presentations will provide assistance with interview preparation, employment search techniques, exploring career changes and networking.
“With more than 3.16 million people in Florida applying for unemployment benefits since March, Goodwill’s job connection services are more important than ever,” said Kim Praniewicz, VP of marketing and mission advancement for Goodwill. “Our employment specialists are working to close this gap by meeting virtually with job seekers to update resumes, practice for interviews and apply for openings online.”

Brevard Zoo gala going virtual
Safari Under the Stars, Brevard Zoo’s annual gala, is going virtual this year. Scheduled for Saturday, September 26, the live broadcast will commence at 6 p.m. as a “preparty” with the program itself beginning at 6:30 p.m.
“With the ongoing pandemic taking a costly toll on our ability to carry out our mission-based programs, this may be the most important fundraiser in our history,” said Karen Davis, the Zoo’s director of development. “And though we can’t gather in person, this year’s event will still be a night to remember filled to the brim with celebrity appearances, inspirational presentations and a thrilling live auction.”
The broadcast is free to watch for anyone with a computer or mobile device and internet access, although donations are encouraged. Registration is now open at www.brevardzoo.org/safari. Registrants will be emailed additional details and instructions as the event approaches.
