The Melbourne Regional Chamber is hosting a Grand Opening Event &  Ribbon Cutting on Monday, May 5th, 2014 at the El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant - the ribbon cutting will take place at 5:30pm.

El Sombrero is Melbourne's newest Mexican restaurant, located at the corner of Palm Bay Road and Stack Blvd. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at El Sombrero with a live Mariachi Band, buy one get one wells and sample margaritas. The Festivities will run all day from 11am until 10pm closing.

Audi Melbourne Pro Tennis Classic Presented by Revolution Technologies
A USTA Women's $50,000 Pro Cicuit Event to benefit the Scott Center for Autism Treatment


The Kiwi Tennis Club in Indian Harbour Beach is hosting the ninth annual USTA Women's Pro Tennis Classic this week, through May 4th.  The Audi Melbourne Pro Tennis Classic presented by Revolution Technologies is the largest tennis event in Central Florida.

World-class athletes will be competing to earn a Main Draw Wild Card into the French Open and $50,000 in prize money. The tournament gives fans the opportunity to experience the excitement and intensity of professional tennis right here in Brevard County.

All the proceeds from the event will go to the Scott Center for Autism Treatment.

More Than Forty Food Truck Vendors Battle in "Food Truck Wars"

Food Truck Wars returns to Palm Bay on Saturday, May 3rd at the Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) campus in Palm Bay from 2 to 8pm. Forty gourmet food trucks will offer a variety of choices from lobster and Thai food to gourmet desserts! “It’s going to a really fun family event, with live music from GT Express and a Just for Kids area available and of course all that great food,” says Shawnta Price, Recreation Supervisor for the City of Palm Bay.

Palm Bay Mayor, William Capote, is the Grand Marshal and will open Food Truck Wars. The gourmet food trucks, from all over the state, will compete for 5 prestigious prizes awarded by celebrity judges. The competition includes: the Spirit Award, Top Sales, Delectable Desserts, Casual Cuisine and the coveted People’s Choice Award.  “We’re excited to bring Food Truck Wars back to Palm Bay,” said Heidi Lapin, director of Parks & Recreation. “We expect an even bigger turn out than last year and invite everybody to come out to EFSC and join in the fun.”

This year, in addition to an already great event, Food Truck Crazy, Inc. and the City of Palm Bay join forces to honor the military. The first 100 active duty or retired personnel to visit the voting station with their Military ID will be given $5 in “Food Truck Bucks”.  For more information, visit www.playpalmbay.org.

Sessions Workshop - Incurred Cost Submissions

Incurred Cost Submissions will be the subject at Sessions@ Berman Hopkins on Wednesday, May 7 at the Citrus Club in Orlando. Albert D. Goldwasser, CPA and government contractor consultant will be the presenter.

Sessions@ Berman Hopkins was created to help contracting professionals navigate the complexities of government financial reporting and compliance requirements. The workshop will take place from 8:30 am to 10:00 am, with registration starting at 8:00 am. The cost is $35 per person (required in advance). Sports Hall of Fame Banquet May 9th

The 2014 Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will take place at the Cocoa Beach Country Club on Friday, May 9, 2014.

Maverick Multimedia, the parent company of Space Coast Medicine & Healthy Living magazine and SpaceCoastDaily.com created the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame, and nominees are chosen in four categories including professional sports, college sports, high school sports and amateur sports. Special honorary recognition is also bestowed upon individuals and groups that have made significant contributions to sports on the Space Coast.

The festivities include a meet and greet with the area's sports royalty, dinner, and the induction proceeding which includes compelling video tributes of each of the inductees.
