Women of Excellence July Meeting - July 15

On July 15th, WE will host our monthly breakfast meeting at Baer's Furniture from 8am - 9:30am. Guest Speaker, Sasha ZeBryk, will give practical advice on how to unleash hidden powers within that will help increase your business through marketplace presence & heightened communication skills. Breakfast is being provided by Chef Buza with the Salvation Army.

Post Legislative Wrap-Up Lunch - July 22

Hear directly from your legislators about the 2014 session and what is to come at this Post Legislative Wrap-Up Lunch. Presented by The Melbourne Regional Chamber and Business Voice of East Central Florida, Inc., and sponsored by AT&T, the session wrap-up will feature reviews from Senator Thad Altman and Representatives Steve Crisafulli, Tom Goodson, and Rich Workman.

The event will be held Tuesday, July 22 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Suntree Country Club, 1 Country Club Drive, Melbourne. The cost is $25 for Business Voice or Chamber Members pre-paid online by July 18, $30 for members at the door, and $35 for non-members.

The Women of Excellence Committee
Back to School Charitable Event - August 9th
Donations Needed by July 31st


Back to School is an initiative of the Melbourne Regional Chamber Education Foundation and the Women of Excellence Committee to reach-out to disadvantaged and abused teenage girls within the community. The young women participating in the program range in age from 12-18 years and are currently in foster care, local group homes or shelters.

During this special one day event, the program provides school supplies, clothing, hair services and fun workshops to promote self-esteem for an average of 40 girls per school year. Huge thanks to our first contributor GAAB (Greek American Assn. of Brevard).

Please bring donations to the Melbourne Regional Chamber by July 31st.

Brevard Schools Foundation Requests Your Support
For Supply Zone School Supplies


Brevard Schools Foundation will distribute backpacks with supplies to eligible children at a giveaway event at the Supply Zone for Teachers at Clearlake Education Center on Saturday, August 2, 2014. They are asking for your support for this annual event. Donations of any size will help ensure every child is prepared for the beginning of the school year.  Any supplies that go undistributed that day will be placed in the new Supply Zone for Teachers for distribution throughout the year.

Brevard Achievement Center Wins $11.2 Million
Department of Transportation Contract


Brevard Achievement Center (BAC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides innovative programs and services, as well as employment opportunities for people with disabilities, recently won a seven-year, $11.2 million contract with the Department of Transportation (DOT) to provide janitorial and minor maintenance services to rest stops and weigh stations along west central I-75.

The $1.6 million annual contract will employ a total of 80 people, 60 of which will be people with disabilities, to service eight rest stops and two weigh stations along I-75 in Marion, Sumter, Pasco and Hillsborough counties. BAC will be a subcontractor for RESPECT of Florida and TME Enterprises of Chesapeake, Virginia, the Asset Maintenance contractor.

The Fountains of Melbourne Celebrates 25 Years of Service to the Community at Silver Anniversary Gala

The community is invited to attend The Fountains’ Silver Anniversary Gala. The Kisco Senior Living community is toasting to 25 years of dedication to the Melbourne area on Friday, July 25 with chef demonstrations, signature martinis, tray passed hors d’oeurves and live entertainment. Attendees can experience first-hand Kisco’s Art of Living WellSM lifestyle at this milestone event.

Florida Tech Women's Business Center Hosts the IMPACT Business & Leadership Summit August 8


The Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech is hosting one of the largest events of its kind for Central Florida executives on August 8, 2014 – the IMPACT Business & Leadership Summit – a high-level, professional development event targeting business executives and entrepreneurs.
 
The event will feature headliner Sarah Lewis, Oprah Top 20 “Power Lister,” 2014 TED Conference Speaker and author of “The Rise,” as well as a series of other notables, including U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Women’s Business Ownership Director Erin Andrew and Michelle Royal (founder of Royal Innovation Design Group). A women’s leadership panel led by four distinguished Central Florida CEOs and VPs will also discuss “The Confidence Gap” for women in the marketplace.
 
The IMPACT Business & Leadership Summit will be held at the Melbourne Hilton Rialto from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on August 8, 2014.

Take Stock in Children Gearing Up For September "Reach For The Stars" Gala

Tom & Susie Wasdin generously opened their exquisite riverfront home to recognize and thank the committed donors and sponsors of the 2nd Annual Take Stock In Children “Reach For The Stars” Gala. The intent of the gala is to raise funds to purchase scholarships for deserving students of Brevard County who demonstrate a commitment to learning.
